Both to tour IMHO, Tiny Tim will go with the Loins.

Squad will be (shy of injuries) 11 @ Lords plus Bell, Davies, Rashid, Shahzad & Tremlett.
No sense picking Rashid or even Tredwell TBH, since he is not international quality much less test quality. Obviously Swann is the only test quality spinner in ENG ATM, so god forbin he was to get injured during the Ashes - the only alternative would be to pick 4 quicks. It would be suicide to pick Rashid or Tredwell as part of a 4-man attack.

So instead another fast bowler in a possible fit Onions or Sidebottom should go or a reserve opener, given the likelihood Cook will get exposed technically in the first couple tests & calls to drop him will come ringing in again

Really? I heard he was incapable of providing a challenge to the Indians in 07 and only played as part of a second string attack.
Stunning. How you & any others manage to deduce any contradication in that statement is beyond me.

By saying Tremlett proved he was test-quality in that series does not mean he was a consistent challenge to much vaunted IND batsmen - CLEAR difference. He just didn't disgrace himself. Tremlett is a hit-the-deck type seamer, that series was full of seaming conditons where pitch-it-up type bowling was needed to successful - as shown by what the IND pace trio did (ENG in the 1st test to IND).

England best bowler in seaming conditons @ the time in Hoggard & Flintoff where out misisng. So quite obviously IND batsmen weren't put under the same consistent pressure againts the moving ball like their bowlers did to ENGs batsmen. Given Tremlett was not a swing bowler - Anderson not being consistent enough as he is today when the ball is swinging/not swinging - Sidebottom not getting much consistent support from bowlers (or keepers in Prior who dropped a few catches off him - but im not using this as an excuse).

So next time you try to find holes in my argument that are non-existant. Make sure you pay keen attention specific details relating to match-situations & players - before you waste your time posting irrelevant stuff. Thanks.

Feel sorry for the guy, the last 2 years have been a bit of a mixed bag for him.

I can imagine when deciding whether to have the operation or not he was in a bit of a pickle

Well Sidebottom & Tremlett should definately go now that Onions is out. They no longer are battling for one position.
