Antonini is poor, not worthy of playing for a team of Milan's calibre at all.

Seedorf has never been a "warrior" at any point in his career, and Ambrosini is just flat out mediocre. Pirlo is great, but can't tackle at all, so really need someone with some bite alongside him to support the defence. Which Flamini probably is capable of to be fair.
Wouldn't call Antonini poor TBF, he is not the greatest, but he is fairly solid based on the little i've seen of him.

Ambrosini isn't mediocre either. Just like Guttuso they are just clearly passed their peaks - but i still think he can be useful @ club level given all their experience. Flamini indeed should be starting more often @ Milan - unfortunately he has been a regular sub player for them since he left Arsenal - which is unfortunate.

When i said Seedorf has been a "old warrior", i was simply suggesting he is old veteran with great experience. I didn't mean maybe a warrior mid-field i.e a defensive mid-fielder or whatever else you may have thought i meant.

No way would he be at Man Utd for just 8m. Yesterday Bayern were going to sign him for 18 but then pulled out. It's only because Madrid want rid and Spurs jumped in at the right time. If it was us though he'd cost at least 12 and too much of a punt for someone of his age.
But £8m for a Portugese 3rd division player was clearly a logical transfer.

More value in that than Rafael considering the circumstances of the transfer. No idea if it's a great signing and no one will be able to tell until next season at the earliest.

I am a big fan of Seedorf, always seems to be under-rated. Very skilled player though he can disappear from games at times. Comes across as a class act as well.

Fergie probably hasn't much to do with the club's youth scouting anymore. He'll probably be gone by the time Bebe's in the first team.

We bid the minimum needed. It was one of those get him now as there's interest signings. Won't be able to judge him until a year or two down the line. VdV was a last minute thing. If it was earlier in the window he was going for that price then I have no idea if he'd have come. As it was at that stage for Man Utd we were only going to be sending out players on loan so not much chance we'd have signed him. So value argument is rubbish there from Marc.

Anyone with sense would have realised that moving from 3rd division last season to high level training he's going to take some time to be up to it. Not to mention he speaks no English and is suddenly rich plus has moved to a new country. Should be chucked straight into the first team you know.

He was available for nothing 6 weeks prior to moving. Paying €9m for a player you could have gotten for free 6 weeks previously isn't exactly a value for money signing, particularly when no-one at the club had ever seen the guy and Sir Alex was going purely off the recommendation of Carlos Quieroz.

Well it was obvious no one but Vitoria knew of him six weeks ago so don't think you can criticise based on that.

Pffft, "rubbished". It's The Guardian (formerly The Manchester Guardian), not The Sun.

Ferguson denied it, but then he would, wouldn't he?

Doesn't matter that the Guardian has links to Manchester, Ferguson still sat down and explained the reasoning behind him not playing in the reserves yet, thats rubbishing a story for me.

In fairness, its a crazy move, with £8m on the line if it fails. If it fails we'll be the club who spent £8m on a homeless guy, and laughed to hell and back (and deserved, buying without seeing etc). If he has any success then its a master stroke. We'll just have to wait and see
