Has Morgan Passed The Test ?

Yeah no doubt, you can say what you want about county cricket and its merits for judging a player but there is a reason why Morgan only averages in the mid 30s and that has become increasingly evident as this series has developed.

He has undoutedly showed massive potential and I think most of us would now rekon that he will make it as a test player but there is still a lot of work to be done.

Don't think he's done enough to hold Bell out of the Ashes tbh; don't even expect him to be there unless he manages another score by the time Bell is back and Cook continues to fail.
He'll be there, just not in the first XI

And this reason would be?

I see no connection with the two. Lets forget this series was played in general bowler friendly conditons againts a quality PAK attack. So Morgan was well tested, againts a weaker bowling attackteam he would have averaged higher, i'm confident of that.

Plus its not as if any other player in county cricket in the middle-order who was avergaing 50 would have done better if picked. Morgan is fine, although he obviously can & will improve.

The reason? Probably his massive issues with the ball moving away from him just outside off-stump. It's not like it's only been Aamer and Asif that have exposed this either, he was getting out edging behind against Bangladesh too. This issue doesn't really affect him in ODi's, as by the time he comes in the ball has more often than not stopped moving around and there's very rarely a 2nd or 3rd slip in place, which is generally where his edges seem to go. I still rate the guy, and can see why the England team want him around the side, but there's no way he's one of our best 6 batsmen at the minute, Bell simply has to come back in. He should be on the plane to Australia, but I wouldn't have him in the XI.

Yes that technical flaw is evident. But i'm not sure where in his county career before he played tests, would he have faced an attack comparable to the PAK attack that would have exposed this weakness.

CC did nothing for him. All of his strenghts & weakness as test players are now been exposed to us.
