Ok this is a dreadful batting performance. No excuses whatsoever. If the batting continues to be this dreadful, I really dont see India progressing much in the World Cup. This is their ODI team. Yeah you can add a Tendulkar but you still have dire Yuvraj, Rohit and Jadeja and Raina.
Some time back, the likes of Harsha Bhogle and Sanjay Manjrekar squashed the notion that T20 effects the temperament of players by citing India's number 1 ranking in test cricket while it is at the forefront of IPL.
Now what they dont realize is that the reason India is at number 1 is because of a batting line up that boasts of Gambhir, Sehwag, Dravid, Tendulkar and Laxman and they are not products of T20 cricket .They did not start their first class cricket with T20.
When 18-19 year olds start with T20 when their own game is at a development stage, this is what happens, you get all out for 85. That is exactly the reason why a Umar Akmal fails. Its the same reason why Rohit Sharma fails. They are talented but they think small. They think 'bat for 10 overs' when a Dravid thinks 'bat for 35 overs'.
The real effects of IPL and T20 will be more apparent once the seniors retire.
