Ya, Dhoni is a saint with that regard.we will surely get that into matches with obedient players like sangakarra who dont even appeal

He is 1000 times better than sanga both as a captain and a player...and also i have never seen him fake appealing..

Okay right, I've had enough. I'm stepping in as a moderator. This goes to virtually everyone who's posted in this thread in the last 10 pages or so.
If the reason you turn on your computer is to participate in a Great Cricket Fans War, taking it upon yourself to defend your nation with honour at the slightest hint of any criticism regarding its cricket team's playing ability, sportsmanship or board legitimacy, then CricketWeb is not the place for you.
Believe it or not, if someone brings up something you don't agree with - or indeed secretly do agree with but feel compelled to argue against anyway because you're a patriotic moron when it comes to cricket discussion - then bringing up something entirely irrelevant to the point about the team that person happens to support is NOT a constructive response. To cite examples from the last page.. Sangakkara's tendency to appeal has nothing to do with whether we should have UDRS in Tests and ODIs, Dhoni's tendency to appeal has nothing to do with Sangakkara's tendency to appeal, and Sangakkara's captaincy has nothing to do Dhoni's tendency to appeal. If you want to have a dire, biased argument about something really petty and boring that has some tenuous link to cricket then go ahead, but at least show a little bit of tact and pretend you've formed an objective opinion instead of just attacking random things about the other side that have nothing to do with the post you quoted.
Failing that, join PlanetCricket instead.

ya they cud have quite easily won with Srilanka 203/3 in batting powerplay.......
BTW i want NZ and SL in finals and NZ to win....
(sigh) Yeah, as soon as saw I that I felt woeful. Mahela is SO hard to dislodge when he's set, and we don't have the pacemen to force him to react quicker.
Ah well.I think NZ need to take a good look at the SL batting; Jayawardene and Sangakkara are always playing to the situation at hand, yet still give themselves time to get set.
NZ seem to think they always need to blast from ball one, which means they tend to worry too much about getting out, looking awkward and nervous until they get out.
Still, it's nice to always feel optimistic that somebody will do something special.

India's young batch of batsmen like Rohit, Raina and Jadeja are not showing the consistency required for ODI cricket, it is very worrying. Jadeja is batting at seven and he averages 32, Rohit has done nothing except a couple of centuries against Zimbabwe (IIRC) and Raina has really fallen out of the superb form he aquired when returning to the Indian team. Without Tendulkar and Gambhir, the young boys are going to have to average up around 40, more often than not. I really do think if these three and the likes of Virat cannot aquire consistency, then hard hitting players like Uthappa and Yusuf need to be brought in. Moreover, I do wonder what Dinesh Karthik is still doing, there. He can produce a good series, opening the batting in Tests or ODIs, but when push comes to shove, he will not perform for series after series. He lacks the consistency required of an international opener and we need to get someone like Dhawan, Mukund or Rahane in the team when Gambhir or Sehwag is injured. The idea of a makeshift opener when we have numerous specialist openers (specialist batsmen as well!) waiting in the wings is absurd.

Agree. Rohit scored one of his hundreds against SL, but he has flattered to deceive for way too long now. It pains me to say that because I was a big fan of him when he first emerged. Raina has been very consistent recently and deserves some patience, even though he hasn't performed in this particular series.

The problem with Indian ODI team is it lacks a guy who can stone wall an attack during crisis. Dravid did that admirably for a decade. There has to be a guy at #3/4 who can shield stroke makers from moving ball. Tendulkar is very good at it, but needs bit more support. I would say FFS get Laxman in at #3 and get his service for 2 - 3 seasons. Tendulkar might retire during that time, and if it's the case you can groom a youngster at that position batting with Laxman.

Laxman was a poor ODI batsman; average of 30.76 and strike rate of 71.23. He is definitely not the answer. I do agree though, we lack a player for a crisis with a rock solid game - Dhoni used to be that player, but he has inevitably fallen out of the near superhuman form that he used to be in. One batsman for a crisis is certainly not enough either, we need someone to bat at three who can be relied on to dig a trench during a crisis - the current Indian ODI team folds too easily for extremely low scores, it is a clear sign of inexperience and something that needs to be combatted.
Dropping Dravid hardly seems justified now, does it? The batting line up is fragile and the fielding has hardly improved.
