Iqbal's not an opener, agree otherwise.
Iqbal? No.Do you really think that someone like Farhat or Iqbal is better than Hameed?
No, instead they've decided to play four opening batsmen.Well it is not like he has taken Farhat's place in the team.
You have to wonder in what part of the world averaging 30 after 20 tests with no centuries to your name is not considered to be a complete failure. Granted Butt and Farhat have been just as bad if not worse, but theres really no point parading a guy who cant even score runs in FC cricket.Do you really think that someone like Farhat or Iqbal is better than Hameed? At least he hasn't totally failed yet....those two did....
Well, they didn't *have* to drop Malik, although it's definitely fair enough that they did - I think he's only a little bit better than Farhat and Hameed as a batsman and he's not only in poor form but is a very disruptive influence on the team. Yousuf wasn't even in the squad to begin with though, so the original planned eleven consisted of three openers and the only backup batsman was an opener. Well done PCB.Haha, I wasn't prepared to comment on who they could've left out for him, as I'm not even sure there's another reserve batsman in the squad?
If you could get Alam and Younis into this lineup at the expense of Hameed and one other...

It cringes me everytime is see Imran Farhat play international cricket.Well it is not like he has taken Farhat's place in the team.
Great interview on TMS.Jury's out on Riaz as a character, for me. Came across as a bit of a dick with the sarcastic applause (on debut) to England's no.10 batsman, but I liked the smile with which he batted. Could be a bit of a card, this one.
Thought Hameed has scored a hundred on Debut....in fact 2 of them....You have to wonder in what part of the world averaging 30 after 20 tests with no centuries to your name is not considered to be a complete failure. Which is cute, but runs against Bangladesh aren't worth squat.Thought Hameed has scored a hundred on Debut....in fact 2 of them....
For a debutant i think it does mean a lot. You can't just rule out the nerves and the inexperience of a debutant just because he is batting against Bangladesh.Which is cute, but runs against Bangladesh aren't worth squat.
In my best Jacques Rudolph voice "AWTA".For a debutant i think it does mean a lot. You can't just rule out the nerves and the inexperience of a debutant just because he is batting against Bangladesh.
I agree with you on this, yes Hameed has far more potential than Farhat and Butt. This is undeniable. However, to date, Hameed hasnt really delivered in his test match career or in his FC career. I can understand saying that he has done enough to get a shot over the likes of Farhat and Butt, but I dont think he is the savior of Pakistan cricket or that he has been treated unfairly. Hes only been treated unfairly when compared with the likes of Farhat and Iqbal who received favoritism and played way more than they should have.About Yasir Hameed and how some saying he is being paraded too much and why he is better the Farhat...
The amount of chances Farhat got to settle himself in the test side by playing at a consistent openning position has a lot to do with why Farhat is ****. He is still in the same place where he was 5 years ago didn't improve worth a penny...
The reason Hameed is only averaging low in Test cricket or otherwise is because of his constantly being in and out of the team. When you are mentally insecure about your chances in the test team how do you even feel like playing cricket anymore. He was brought in, had a dream start to his test career and then 1 bad form patch and he is out. He made a come back to WI test tour of Pak. Scores a fifty after he finally gets a chance...then he is dropped again...you are mentally crashed after such treatment.
I don't argue that he is under rated or whatever. But i do argue that the guy had the potential to be much better then Farhat if he had been given the same amount of opportunity, if not better right now...Same goes for Malik. Malik plays test cricket at will, probably makes a phone call to his contacts and he is in the playing 11. When you have such job security you should be much much better...Hameed proved he is better by being a part timer...
Similar story is that of Alam. Dream start to the test career with a composed 168 against SL in testing conditions and then only one bad game and he is no where to be seen.....
Khurram Manzoor anyone?? Played a great knock in testing times against a fired up Aussie attack...and he is no where close to the team..yet these blunders Farhat, Umar Amin, Azhar Ali, Shoaib Malik, Kamran Akmal make it to the test level..when hard working players like Hameed, Alam, Younis, Asim Kamal are left out with out a slap on the wrist by anyone. It is the highest level of nepotism and utter hard headedness of PCB and selectors. They take oaths and **** but in the end they end up doing the same that others do...
Yeah, but it doesn't really show if he's a good batsman or not - it just shows that he managed to withstand the nerves. The evidence provided by the rest of his Test career and indeed his entire First Class career suggests that he's, at best, only as good as Farhat. For a debutant i think it does mean a lot. You can't just rule out the nerves and the inexperience of a debutant just because he is batting against Bangladesh.
