Y no Afghanistan flag
I was hoping to pick Stewart there Joe, curses! Was surprised he hadn't been taken already.
I was going to pick Stewart but realistically I don't think he would do a great job behind the stumps against Murali. He was a very solid keeper against the quicks though so Joe should be sweet.

I mean he wasn't really tested against a superstar spinner was he? Soz Giles & Tuffers.

Yeah, he's too good to be left alone for so long! I actually had him in mind from a long time, but was never in position to pick him. Was I ever so glad to note that Ntini began his career way back in 98 :) Alec Stewart, WAG.

International 12th Man
The player that I would have wanted to pick instead of Stewart was in that test that GI Joe picked, so instead I will go for Younis Khan, an excellent candidate to fill my vacant slot at no. 3.

1st Test: England v Pakistan at Lord's, May 17-20, 2001 | Cricket Scorecard | Cricinfo.com

1. Sunil Gavaskar
2. John Edrich
3. Younis Khan
4. Neil Harvey
5. Steve Waugh*
6.
7.
8. Alan Davidson
9. Shane Warne
10. Michael Holding
11. Neil Adcock

Now need a keeper and another batsman, or possibly an allrounder if there is one of enough quality available. The good thing with having Davidson and Warne is that it lessens the need for the keeper to contribute with the bat, though it would be nice of course.

Looking at my lineup again, seeing Younis and Harvey bat together I'd have liked to see. A great combination for the purist.

Yeah, that was my reasoning too. It was either him or the other keeper who kept predominantly to quicks, this end of the timeline. The other option was to pick someone versatile and excellent at wicketkeeping from earlier times, and bat him at #10 :p

Right, I've settloed upon someone at last. My original pick was featured in Heath's game, and I wanted to get the keeper into the side, so I select Ian Healy. Chuffed to see that he hadn't been chosen by anyone yet.
