Love watching this type of cricket in the SC. Better than the mindless slogfests of late :)

Props to SL

Why do we persist with Dinesh Karthik when we have several more domestically accomplished batsmen waiting in the wings? If you are looking for an opener, then Rahane, Mukund and Dhawan all have good OD records. He can play the odd handy innings, but does not provide the vital consistency needed in ODI cricket from an opener.

Would take Uthappa over any of them tbh.

A recent Cricinfo article noted that Uthappa will be remodelling himself as a lower order batsman and wicket keeper, as there is too much competition as an opener in the Indian team. I think as a finisher and hitter at six or seven is where he can find his spot; I don't think he has the consistency to bat up the order for India, despite being explosive when he does come off.

Not much different to Sehwag then. Could open when Sehwag is injured.

Sehwag averages 33.95, and people often moan about his lack of consistency. Uthappa averages 26.07 opening for India and that is definitely too inconsistent for an opener, especially since his strike rate is down at 91 compared to Sehwag's 103.

He has never had a chance to prove his credentials recently though. He could be a changed batsman now with regards to shot selection et al.

Quality knock by Sehwag this. Shows he can dig in when the situation calls for it (and still score close to a run a ball).

SL really bowled and fielded like tigers for a stretch when they took those 3 wickets. Good captaincy and keeping by Sangakkara.

I think with Sachin and Gambhir back we are sufficiently sotcked in the opening Department in ODI's and if we need a back up i Think Dhawan and Mukund should be surely next in line not Vijay or Karthik.

Sehwag doesn't get a Hundred?

What a stupid rule.

Seemed a huge no ball as well.Deliberate?

The last 3 balls with Sangakara missing a straight one, then a false run up ,then a big no ball seemed very dodgy.

Not disappointed that Sehwag missed his 100 here. Good to see he hasn't changed his attitude. Still hit the six from 99.

I hope Randiv has a **** international career averaging fifty with the ball and being dropped off the team in an year, then I want him to bowl pathetic drivel for one year in his domestic league and be dropped off his domestic team as well. WAC.
