UDRS wouldn't have saved him. It doesn't prove he's not out.**** BCCI AND ICC Then.
Would take Uthappa over any of them tbh.Why do we persist with Dinesh Karthik when we have several more domestically accomplished batsmen waiting in the wings? If you are looking for an opener, then Rahane, Mukund and Dhawan all have good OD records. He can play the odd handy innings, but does not provide the vital consistency needed in ODI cricket from an opener.
A recent Cricinfo article noted that Uthappa will be remodelling himself as a lower order batsman and wicket keeper, as there is too much competition as an opener in the Indian team. I think as a finisher and hitter at six or seven is where he can find his spot; I don't think he has the consistency to bat up the order for India, despite being explosive when he does come off.Would take Uthappa over any of them tbh.
Not much different to Sehwag then. Could open when Sehwag is injured.A recent Cricinfo article noted that Uthappa will be remodelling himself as a lower order batsman and wicket keeper, as there is too much competition as an opener in the Indian team. Sehwag averages 33.95, and people often moan about his lack of consistency. Uthappa averages 26.07 opening for India and that is definitely too inconsistent for an opener, especially since his strike rate is down at 91 compared to Sehwag's 103.Not much different to Sehwag then.
