Nannes should have bowled the 18th over. Makes no sense to bowl Broad for variety and choice reasons then.

Nannes could bowl a great over and he's going to be left one short.

Jos Buttler - brilliant. Fearless and brilliant. It's been a good day for the young'uns.

Only surprised that Broad hasn't removed one of the stumps and tried to stab him with it.

44 off 8 overs from Swann and Patel
138 off 12 overs from everyone else...

I fear the rain may now be in for a decent stint, unfortunately - radar suggests showers, some pretty heavy, until around 7:30. D/L may mess things up, and then we could end with a shortened final.

Easiest thing may be to play this one out properly and then have a final tomorrow. Chance of that = 0%

You never see Botham, Gower and Willis at these games, do you - the team Sky have today are pretty good and there seems to be good chemistry between them - they all played against each other of course, but the senior statesmen of Sky don't muddy their feet with county cricket. Feel a bit for Paul Allott though, stalwart of the group stages left out for Finals Day - rather like Darren Pattinson.

Rain delaying the resumption has reduced the Notts innings to 16 overs.

So he is - having not seen him on the bench I thought he'd been left behind.

Swann makes an early exit, but not before blasting a few.

I presume that if rain wipes out the rest of the day they can play the final tomorrow, but what about this game? Do they decide a winner on D/L?

Would imagine so. 5 overs is a game in 2020, I think.

Sammy's diet going well then. Middled that one tho, but.

Looks like they could be off any time. Just about even stevens on D/L.

Edit: that 4 must have put them ahead, but as Bumble says, it's ball by ball.

Patently a class act, Sammy; always has time to play his shots. Such a pity he won't keep out of the larder.
I don't understand why his fitness is such a big issue; If he's good enough, he should play, surely? It's not as if he's particularly slow around the field or anything, and he clearly has a great deal of talent, with bat and (in one-day level) ball.

Well it costs the team runs when he's batting. Also given the rigorous schedule of international cricket he's more liable to get tired, injured etc.

There's just no excuse really for not getting fit.

It's a fair point. Not that I necessarily agree with them, but I'd guess it's partly a question of discipline from the England coaching/conditioning bods. They set Patel a target which he jibbed, so for their edicts to have any weight (pun intended) they have to stick to their guns.

Me, I think a bloke who averages high-40s in FC cricket and bowls better than decent spin is worth persisting with.

I agree, but equally, if he's one of the best 5/6 T20 batsmen available for selection (I'm not suggesting he is, although he'd definitely be my next-in-line if one of the middle order was injured), then there's no excuse for not picking him, surely?

Well that's Somerset through then.

If you score 6-1 off an over of Trego at that stage of the innings you probably don't deserve to win really.
