Yeah, not the lead I was hoping for though - certainly not enough to put Sussex under real pressure, even if the last pair drag us past 300. And batting again with a deficit of 80 or 90 Sussex are unlikely to be able to set any sort of target tomorrow.

Hampshire getting some punishment from Somerset today, Hildreth in the runs again.

We should be ok to bat out a draw tomorow but we are going to struggle win games for the rest of the season with this bowling attack.

Simon Jones played a 40 over game other day, they are taking things very slowly with him which is entirely the right thing to do.

Kabir has got a serious knee injury and the best we can hope for is that he will back for the start of next season.

Dimi also out for the rest of the season after he had to have surgery.

Is a little bit galling seeing Tremlett finally regain fitness but I am delighted for him and the move has obviously done him good.

Tomlinson loves bowling at Taunton (bizare as that sounds) it would seem but Corky better not be seriously injured would be a bloody disaster if he was. Ervine injured as well it would seem, will need him for finals day even if only as a batsman.

Hope we can bat this one out ok.

Lumb injured as well. Out for the rest of the season with a broken foot. Was broken by a shot from Kieswetter as Lumb was fielding in close.

Yeah Lumb out the season which is a shame as he had finally found his form, with Mckenzie going soon we can be thankfull that Hughes is ariving.

Ervine not batting either so things do not look good for the weekend, If Cork and Ervine miss out then over half of what would be our first team is out: Kabir, Pothas, Dimi, Cork, Lumb and Ervine would all be playing if fit.

Going to save this game it seems, was always going to be hard for Somerset for force a result. Really wish Vince would stop getting out for 40's but he is young so will be patient for now.

16-over thrash just getting under way at Trent Bridge ...

Watching the highlights of the T20 QF between Sussex and Notts earlier, it must have been mooted at the time, but was it really not possible for Prior, Broad and Swann to play in that match? Given that the Test starting three days later was at the same ground, they would probably have been in Notttingham anyway, and might even have been at the ground. How much time do you need to recover from a 20-over game?

Note: prior to scoring his 100th first-class hundred at Headingley in 1977, and batting almost two days to do so, Geoff Boycott played against Warwickshire in a match that finished 41 hours before the start of the Test.

He did like batting it's true, but he'd never have got anywhere near the landmark if he'd been on a central contract.
