*Official* Pakistan in England 2010

Shame about Yousuf (much as I want England to win, a proper contest is nice) but calling up a 35 (IIRC) year old with no serious cricket for nearly six months was always a Hail Mary or whatever the Muslim equivalent of one is. Decision not to recall the younger man who is playing regularly looks even sillier now.

Great news aboout Kamran tho. Never overly want to kick a chap when down, but his keeping is just ploppy pants. Not like he's batting well either.

oh well..it will be still 80 all out but atleast England will score around 100 runs less with Akmal no longer there...something to cheer for the bowlers...their edges will be taken.

I think we're missing the real victim in all this. One of the wicketkeepers in my County 10s side is called Cameron, which has an unfortunate phonic resemblance to Kamran, particularly when spoken quickly.

OK then, let's see what's happening ... weather looks fine, for one thing.

Very thin crowd for a match starting in 20 minutes.

Pakistan win toss and bat - just the two changes expected, no room for Yasir Hameed.

Salman's comparison of his team to the construction of a building was quite a mature statement I thought.

Interesting decision from Butt to bat first. The last thing I was expecting. It's overcast, their batting is weak and I'd have thought they'd jump at the chance to bowl first. Have to see how it goes, I'd be surprised if Anderson didn't swing it out there, which could prove very dangerous against this top order again.

Good decision to bat first.. Pakistan have been bowling first for the last 6-7 test matches..
Really? With Asif & Amir and overcast English conditions I'd have jumped at a bowl, tbh. Bowling is by far Pakistan's stronger suit so I'd play to it; skittle us quicker for not many and chase and hopefully overhaul a small total.

Farhat gone for 24 ball blob then. Hmm.

Agreed. Choosing to bat first in overcast conditions with this batting line-up was a laughable decision, especially if they'd already decided to bat in this manner. They're never going to make 300 batting like this.

Man, ball hooping round corners here. That one shaped to leave Butt and then came right back in. Super bowling to utilise the conditions.

Pakistan maybe should play the odd shot, like, tho. Just as Plan B as this inertia thing isn't really working for them.
