Not Terrible
Cut it out guys. WW you were warned earlier in this thread to not bring up New Zealand in that manner when its unrelated to the topic at hand. The rest of you guys (NZers) need to stop bickering with him.

Yeah I agree with Pegs. Not sure why Pakistan are being rated so highly. They have two very good bowlers but not much to go with it.

West Indies are too riddled with injuries as well at the moment and their best line up still remains hypothetical on paper and yet to take to the field together. While I'm standing behind my claim that Roach will be one of the top bowlers in the world by the time he is 23/24 - injuries withstanding- the Windies still lack depth in the bowling department when their front liners go down. Their batting, however, could get a lot stronger IMO. Barath and Lil Bravo look to be very good prospects and replacements for when Chanderpaul retires. From what results indicate and preliminary reports, Andre Russel could well prove to be that missing link especially if he can contribute with the bat.

The future of the Windies, for the next 4-5 years anyway, will largely depend on the fitness of Roach, emerging contenders for the keeping job and its back up bowlers. The batting will be reasonably strong I feel.
I think the batting is gonna be brilliant over the next 5 years or so G_S, Brathwaite, Barath, Jonathan Carter, Chesney Hughes, Darren Bravo look really good, and there's another 19 year old kid who just won the Caribbean T20 cup for Guyana yesterday named Jonathan Foo who looks special too, bowlers such as Jason Holder and Delorn Johnson look like having good futures along with Leggy Devendra Bishoo who i think will make the squad for Sri-lanka after his outstanding performances for Guyana of late, the future looks bright indeed  .

Excuse me NZ are one of the teams named in his post so they ARE part of "the topic at hand"!! 8-) , and incase you missed it i said "i'm not having a dig at NZ but just being realistic" and when you look at the rankings you'd see i'm right.

West Indies have no case for being in the top tier. I'm not having a dig at WI but just being realistic.

RIP for him. Why do you wan to throw him at lions den? Wait till Poms, Kiwis or springboks arrive there. India / SL are the worst tams for a debutant spinner, unless you are a Shane Warne (even he got carted around in the first series). Only Vettori and Warne done well in SL. Even greats like Kumble and Harbhajan have struggled big time.

Heh, Pakistan.

Anyway, difficult to pick this, as these three sides are currently chopping and changing so much that it's difficult to get a feel of where they stand relative to one another.

If McCullum does a good job at opener, then our top order will look at it's most well rounded since the great exodus 4 years ago. But our bowling has gone from being arguably the best of the lot to definately the worst now, which is probably going to force us to play 4 specialist seamers (with either mills or tuffee at 8), which throws the balance of the side right out.

At the moment, if all 3 sides where to have their best players fully fit (for Pakistan, that'd mean getting moyo and Khan!... Khan!... back in the side) then it would be very tough to pick between Pakistan and the Windies. I think our weaker bowling would probably leave us a close 3rd.

With our strongest side? yep!!.
Your batsmen will do well WW, but on SL pitches your bowlers will find it ultra-tough. And bowlers like Edwards, Taylor and Roach run the risk of breaking down during the match due to searing heat and sapping humidity. Pakistan lost some gems, by playing here (Mohammed Zahid, Kabir Khan etc), and getting injured.

I think Benn is going to be a threat on SL wickets because of the bounce he gets. Even 6' 1" Randiv produced some steep bounce on a dead SSC pitch. For the new guy Bishoo, best is to just play the Board presidents XI.

Bishoo has history against your lot Migara!!.. he tore through your u19's when he was younger, he was so impressive even the Sri-lankan coach claimed he was "a big talent for the future", he then took wickets against your senior side the last time you toured WI in a warm up game!!, believe me the kid has got the lot, googlies, sliders, top spinners, flippers ect, he can float them too and is very accurate, i think he might be our secrete weapon in November!! .

To be fair Benn and Shilly really pile on the overs leaving the pace bowlers to stay on an easy rotation

Are you watching Pak right now? my views about them have been pretty much justified thus far, two great bowlers and that's it, against a proper top side they've simply got no chance because their batting is beyond a joke, even worser than Bangs now, people claim "well they can bowl teams out" but so can we!! , we bowled out SA twice for 350 (considering their batting line-up i'd say that's good) , we bowled out Aus for 150 etc, and that was without Taylor and Edwards in those games, i think people have overrated Pak after the win against Aus but their true level has been shown over these last few days i believe.

Hey maybe they might surprise me and win the next game!!.. but right now England look leagues above them.

As for how we would have coped against England!!, well they'd be favorites but we've got the better of them over the past 18 months in one test and a few t20's so anything could happen i guess.
Pakistan's bowling attack>>>>>>>>West Indies' bowling attack.
WI batting>>>Pak's batting

If Yousuf and Younis return,Pak's batting>>>>WI batting

Either way,Pak>>>>WI.No contest.West Indies have been getting whitewashed left, right and center.Pakistan have at least been managing to stay competitive even without their best players.

I would back NZ to narrowly beat Pakistan and WI in a home and away series, however WI and Pakistan both pose a much greater threat to the top teams than NZ do. Think this largely rests with NZ's bowlers still being adequate against Pakistan and Windies' batting but right now shown to be toothless against anyone else.

NZ = the tortoise
WI and Pak = hares

Really all that's important is how these teams develop from here. All could be described as having 'potential', but potential doesn't win (or draw) matches.
