Cricket Web: All-Time Legend

It's nice to know people listen. The thread will be re-opened in 48 hours by which time hopefully everyone will have grown up enough to discuss things as adults.

Flem, I deleted it because I'd already asked for people to cut it out, and you're kidding yourself if you think the thread was just magically going to go back on track after that post.

Lets try and keep this thread on track now thanks :) any more shenanigans like before and it'll be closed again, except permanently.

NZ would have made 250 - but not too much more. I watched the first session and the ball was doing plenty. Might have been the bowling.

I was wondering how our bowling attack would have gone. Southee would have been a handful and might have picked up 2 or 3 wickets. But he doesn't have it on a string. Might have dismissed England for 400 if we bowled well on day 1 as well.

The only reason Pakistan is a better test team than NZ is they can bowl other teams out. If it wasn't for that bowling trio, Bangladesh would be lining them up.

Mind you, if Pakistan would pick a keeper who could catch, they would be even more impressive.

Pakistan EASILY.Can't believe they are being compared to sides like Bang and WI who get smoked by everyone.
Are you watching Pak right now? my views about them have been pretty much justified thus far, two great bowlers and that's it, against a proper top side they've simply got no chance because their batting is beyond a joke, even worser than Bangs now, people claim "well they can bowl teams out" but so can we!! , we bowled out SA twice for 350 (considering their batting line-up i'd say that's good) , we bowled out Aus for 150 etc, and that was without Taylor and Edwards in those games, i think people have overrated Pak after the win against Aus but their true level has been shown over these last few days i believe.

Hey maybe they might surprise me and win the next game!!.. but right now England look leagues above them.

As for how we would have coped against England!!, well they'd be favorites but we've got the better of them over the past 18 months in one test and a few t20's so anything could happen i guess.

Yeah, Pak have no right being "best of the rest" with this batting line up. Big deal they can limit most sides to 300ish innings scores when they can't even make 150 themselves.

Also if you can resist their bowling early on they run out of a plan B, with poor spin and no all-rounder. Like England yesterday, lost wickets early but held on and then made merry against the others.

Also if one pace bowler goes down Md Sami is back in the team....

Spot on!!, no team this unbalanced can be considered "best of the rest", i mean like you pointed out it's not like their whole bowling unit is the business cause it's pretty much only Aamer and Asif carrying the whole thing 90% of the time, and when they run out of ideas Pak find themselves in trouble.

Yeah I agree with Pegs. Not sure why Pakistan are being rated so highly. They have two very good bowlers but not much to go with it.

West Indies are too riddled with injuries as well at the moment and their best line up still remains hypothetical on paper and yet to take to the field together. While I'm standing behind my claim that Roach will be one of the top bowlers in the world by the time he is 23/24 - injuries withstanding- the Windies still lack depth in the bowling department when their front liners go down. Their batting, however, could get a lot stronger IMO. Barath and Lil Bravo look to be very good prospects and replacements for when Chanderpaul retires. From what results indicate and preliminary reports, Andre Russel could well prove to be that missing link especially if he can contribute with the bat.

The future of the Windies, for the next 4-5 years anyway, will largely depend on the fitness of Roach, emerging contenders for the keeping job and its back up bowlers. The batting will be reasonably strong I feel.

Teams like Pakistan and West Indies hitting the new lows...

Isn't it time to make 2 tiers for Cricket just how it used to be OR is in English Domestic Cricket?

Tier 1 : India, South Africa, Australia, England, Sri Lanka, New Zealand
Tier 2 : Pakistan, West Indies, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe

Number 6 in Tier 1 will be replaced by Number 1 from Tier 2

People say that these teams might learn a thing or two by playing against TOP teams! What Bangladesh have learnt in these years? Nothing...

They might gain some confidence by beating Pakistan or West Indies in Tier 2

Why not wait until we play teams without half our first team missing before claiming we've "sunk to new lows"? 8-) our recent schedule has been deadly of late too, England, Australia and SA!!, they aren't in the top five for nothing, and your post simply doesn't make sense if NZ are in the top tier either, and that's not having a dig at NZ it's just being realistic.

Do you honestly think you can beat the likes of SL or New Zealand with this toothless team?
