*Official* Pakistan in England 2010

Doubtful there'll be any draws unless the weather intervenes or Yousuf and Younis are suddenly recalled.

Our batting is a fair bit better and our bowling our marginally worse as a unit (IMHO, obv), but think we'll have at least one collapse along the way. Funnily enough, of the venues staging tests, I think Trent Bridge is the one most likely to favour the Pakistani attack so we could be in for a rude early awakening...

Boy Brumby you are spot on with the fact Trent Bridge will suit them more than any other ground. The one guaranteed to swing which will help Asif and Aameer.

So looking forward to this, yes the Pak v Aus tests were good and entertaining but it wasn't my team and it is ages since we played a test match against a side that isn't just there to be picked off easily.

I think we will win but the Pakistan attack will give us a bloody nose on the way like they did with the Aussies.I fully expect at least one score of less than 200 by England in the series, trouble is i expect Pakistan to have at least two or three as their batting looks weak.

Must say I would be tempted to leave out Kaneria if I was Pakistan. England have always played him pretty well ( I can only think of that one tour of Pakistan when he had a couple of decent tests when Shaoib destroyed us.). Would imagine he's averaging in the mid 40's against us.

England win toss and bat first. Hopefully we'll get off to a good start, put up 400+ and pile the pressure on the Pakistani batting line-up. Can see Asif picking up a few early wickets though, think he could be all over Cook in this series.

Yeah Cook and Trott should buy sets of pink bunny ears right now IMO because I think Asif will eat them alive. I think Asif has a good record against Pietersen too. Strauss is going to be the key.

Right decision in my opinion, yes they bowled out Australia last week but that was a pretty ordinary Australia batting side in conditions they are awful in.This is a bold statement by Strauss, you may have a decent attack but we are the better team and will beat you however good your bowling is.

Had nothing to do with the pitch when Pakistan rolled Australia either; it was just the overhead conditions. Could happen at any time; it's not going to matter if it's Day 1 or Day 3 when they bowl.

As has been said, if England could get a good score on the board (even just 300 odd tbh) they're right in the driver's seat because Pakistan's batting lineup is awful, but if there's one team I'd think about bowling first against it'd be this one as the bowlers are always going to be under more pressure if they score < 300 and that's probably going to happen more often than not.

Meh, what a team, oh well lets see, won't be here to watch the match :( I reckon if Pakistan get the first wicket before Eng get say 50 runs, Pakistan to dominate.

Not the most thrilling of starts from Aamer and Asif, both looking very stiff. Aamer didn't get over 82mph until the final delivery which read 84mph, and Asif can barely get it over 80mph at the minute. His first delivery read 75mph, that's medium pace at best.

Well both captains said it looks a good batting track and is dry and will turn later in the game.It is overcast though so will swing this morning.

Yes. Especially as to have inserted Pakistan would have sent the message that England are frightened of their attack.

Apparently the forecast for days 2 & 3 is far more overcast & damp, so England will should find conditions today easier.
