Interesting to note that there are plenty of good batsmen in the lower ranked teams (even Pakistan if you add in Younis and MoYo). Potentially there could be this pool to choose from:

Ryder
MoYo
Younis
Akmal (U)
Shakib
Tamim

It's a pretty good pool. But then the decent bowlers are:

Aamer

And I'm stretching it. Really not much on offer.

Four years ago is completely irrelevant. For Australia we had Warne, Hayden, Gilchrist, Martyn, Gilchrist and McGrath playing for us, it gives zero indication of where Australia are at now.

Right now, Pakistan are the best. Maybe 18 months ago when West Indies had a win, then they could be considered the best. But that isn't the argument.

If a team is clearly better than us i'd have no problem admitting that, but until we play with our strongest line-up and Pak start beating teams i really can't see how they are better than us, they have the better pace attack and we have the better batting order, i don't see anything that seperates them from us.

All the batters are availible right now including Marlon Samuels who was really starting to come into his own before he got banned, he's come back and is stroking the ball very well, even young Xavier Marshall who has fantastic ability has come back so our batting order has got much more competition right now, i take your point about Edwards but i'm more hoping we can keep Taylor and Roach fit, it was crazy how we didn't even have them two in the first test against SA, add youngster Andre Russell to those two and we may have a very dangerous trio right there.

Tbh the only way we can really find out who the better team is between Pak and WI will be when we finally play them again!!, i hope we play them next year so we can put this argument to bed once and for all.

The one thing I do find particularly amusing is that whenever WI play poorly or whatever, WW carries on about how rubbish all the players are and how they all need to be dropped for 18 year olds because of repeated poor performance, yet when a thread like this pops up they're all suddenly proven superstars again.

Would drop Asif for him TBH; Asif's vastly over-rated in ODIs and I don't think you need that many bowlers. Gayle, Bravo/Shakib and possibly Ryder if needed are more than capable of combining to form the fifth bowler.

That's the life of a fan Prince , you have ups and downs, i might have a moan now and then but when the opposition see fit to run us down i won't have that, as i said if a team is clearly better than us i have no problem admitting it but when it comes to Pak and especially NZ i just don't see it.
