I even posted that before Rob White took 23 off that over.

Genuinely, has that bloke ever done anything memorable for a valid reason on a cricket field? I know Chapple's injured, but surely there are myriad Lancs League bowlers who have more about themselves and are a hugely better bet than Daren?

You know it's not good when Saj is being held up as a paragon of virtue in comparison to somebody.

EDIT: Answering my own question, no 5-fors in five years and only three four wicket returns since the start of 2008 - 4/60 against T&T in the Carib Beer Cup, 4/49 (off 8) v Somerset in the CB40 and 4/44 against Middlesex II (Tom Scollay [LA average 3.00], Adam Rossington [Age 17, FC average 1.00], Kyle Hodnett [LA average 6.00] and Jackson Thompson)...

Not feeling the boy Brooks's dayglo headbands tbh. Lucky he's bowling well or he'd look even bigger ****.

Bumble & Nass just raised an interesting point. Given the presence of David "Son of Peter" Willey in the Steelbacks' line up, could his old man umpire when he plays? Bumble seems to think it'd be ok.

Oxfordshire boy goes for fewer runs in four overs than West Indian International fritters away in six balls. Take note, ECB, and give us some more money. Tiddington's a great setup, actually, they do a great deal for the County and ask for very little back in return.

The best I've seen this season I reckon. Bowled a rubbish over to follow though.

Andrew Hall's beard is also quite impressive I think. Didn't recognise him at first.

?! I don't think Wakely's ever bowled for Northants in his life!

In other news, I am loving watching David Murphy keep here. I don't think he's missed a thing all night - back, up, leg side to the seamers, off yorkers despite batsmen reversing over the top of the ball... Brilliant!

I think you might have confused Wakely and Willey, who bowled a horror over. Several horror overs, in fact. On the subject of confused bowlers, I wonder what Lee Daggett's thinking, aside from "Has Skipper just forgotten I'm here?"

Yeah fair enough, I blame Bumble - I'm sure he called him 'Wakely.' ;) Brooks looks a bit of a find, could do with a haircut though.

Yes - "how's that, Dad?" "That's out, son!"

This scenario must have arisen before though. Bumble umpired for a few seasons didn't he - was that when young Graham was playing?

And is the Hampshire contingent not with us tonight? Hants were 35-1 after four overs, then it all went badly wrong. Middlesex cruising it, and look like going ahead on net run rate.

Derby batting being destroyed by Chigumbura, who's starting to look a handy signing for Northants.

I suppose Shakib's debut for Worcs can only be a few days away now ...

And no Simon Jones for Hants tonight - the usual reason?

Cook's turned himself into a pretty good t20 player.

Seems to have a good score more often than not.

Gets himself out as I say it.

50 off four isn't out of the question for Essex while Styris is there. Superb figures for Will Beer though. Talking of young leg-spinners, have Munday or Waller featured much for Somerset this season?

Looks like he's done it again for them.

12 off 8 needed.

29 off his last eight balls. :) Chad Keegan withdrew in mid-over after going for 16 off four. Essex did it with a bit to spare in the end.

Why was Will Beer not given a fourth over?, it says on CricInfo he just got the three, very strange if true,

and can a bowler just be taken out during an over?, didn't know of that ...

Only if he's injured - hurt pride isn't enough. :p

Surprised that they called on Smith (one over for 13) and not Beer to finish the over though. Not that it would have made much difference by then.

Daggett had interesting figures of 0-0-4-0 tonight. Looks as if he withdrew injured after bowling two no-balls, Hall finishing the over. Only came on for the 17th though, and has only bowled 20 overs in 13 matches this season, with an economy rate of 9.5. Why do they keep picking him?

Or possibly chucked down two beamers and got told to see himself out...

Still, quite baffling that he gets to bowl nine balls per match - as a specialist bowler! Truly bizarre that he's continually selected ahead of another batsman.

Was at work, and very glad that I was.

Such a crap performance, when our overseas players have actually got on the pitch they have been fairly usless.

Looks like Danny Briggs was our best bowler again by miles.
