*Official* Bangladesh in England

I'm sure this is one of the circumstances in which we can manage to okay a username change, if you'd like to come up with something else - based on Will Porterfield, perhaps?!
You mean I sign up for a new name or can you edit my name?,

It's probably the first option :D...

But Wales has always been part of England for cricketing purposes...

Nah, seriously, what's the difference between this and the Inter-Continental Cup? First Class games are Tests in all but name, and the rich tapestry of records at Test level is something worth preserving.

This is just like gay marriage... Same rights, but a different name. Everyone's happy.
Not convinced myself. Joyce and Morgan wouldn't have switched sides to go straight if they were happy with a civil partnership, surely?

No one within Irish cricket is calling for test status in any case, simply that Ireland become full ICC members. Increased funding and regular games against test-quality sides are benefits Bangladesh get, but Ireland don't- why? It's not because they're much better at cricket, clearly...

Fair chance tomorrow will be rained off, ftr. Forecast not good.

Seriously though, how bad does this make Bangladesh look? That was a hiding in every sense of the word. I think maybe it is time to have promotion-relegation between Test teams and Intercontinental cup teams - but they'll never do that because of the FTP.

AWTA. If Bangladesh deserve a chance, so do Ireland. Have the bottom three (Ban, Zim, Ireland) compete and whoever wins the most gets to play Tests against the others. Let them have competition - the best will win out and hopefully it'll be an awesome incentive for all three to improve (maybe the prospect of loss of $$ will cause Zim to do something).

I would luv to see a Tri-Series (ODIs) between Bangladesh, Ireland & Zimbabwe in B.Desh by the end of this year... If Ireland does well in that too then they surely deserve Test Status. (or permanent ODI status with at least 75% of a full member funding & regular matches in FTP). Out of all it will be a good WC build-up for all the teams.

Tri-Series should have this format:
Match 1 - Bangladesh v Ireland, Chittagong
Match 2 - Bangladesh v Zimbabwe, Chittagong
Match 3 - Zimbabwe v Ireland, Chittagong
Match 4 - Bangladesh v Ireland, Dhaka
Match 5 - Bangladesh v Zimbabwe, Dhaka
Match 6 - Zimbabwe v Ireland, Dhaka
Match 7 - Final, Dhaka

How better does this look than 7 match bi-lateral series between 2 nations.

Good to see Siddique score a hundred. He has really cemented that number 3 spot for Bangladesh, he is my favourite player for them.

I wonder why on earth Porterfield chose to bat with so much rain around- it's the same pitch and similar conditions as yesterday when bowling first worked perfectly. 30/3 after ten doesn't look too good. Niall O'Brien absolutely crucial.

Even I have the same question... Guess he wanted to test his bowlers by defending a target...

Zimbabwe's spinning stocks aren't exactly poor.
Ireland's aren't the worst either actually, but I suspect Migara is more concerned with the inability of Zimbabwe and Ireland to play spin than their inability to bowl it.

Yeah, I'm not best placed to comment on Zimbabwe's batting ability against spin but considering the number of spinners they often have in the side and the lack of any real genuine pace bowlers in the country I'd have thought they must be quite adept at playing spin. Even if not to the same level of Bangladesh, I'd have thought at the very least that they'd be competent.
Wasn't prepared to comment on Ireland. Especially now McCallan's retired :(
