Actually a decent ride from Wiggins too, was 4'55" behind the winners, which isn't actuallly all that bad when you think about it. Took 5 minutes out of Evans. Reasonably enjoyable stage without being anything special.

Anyone else hate the stupid stages where they have a great climb like today and then don't have a mountain top finish? The 25km at the end today just seemed totally pointless...

Really good ride from Armstrong as well today, great comeback after just hitting the wall big-time the other day. Major respect.

The Tour is the biggest race in the world, but the Giro d'Italia is the better race, more exciting IMO. Ok so geography does play a part in that they have long, extremely steep mountains to ride over, but they always come up with exciting race.

Case in point to Stage 9 last year, they crest the Tourmalet and then have a 70km downhill run to the finish. It was ridiculous to see Rabobank working on the front to look to set up Oscar Freire, a sprinter, to sprint for 3rd place. And to make it worse, we saw Collingwood fans on the Tourmalet as well :ph34r:

Surely has to be some sort of terrible joke, because that's up there with one of the most ******** things ever.

Obviously wouldn't have happened if it had been a FDJ, Cofidis or AG2R lead out rider...

DQ from the stage I could understand, even if the Eurosport comms were barely even interested in the Dean/Renshaw contretemps, but from the whole tour? Is there any precedent for that? The only riders I remember being booted out of the tour are those who've been doped to the eyeballs...

FFS, this is so annoying. I watched it live and it was pretty clear that Dean was going to pin Cavo up against the boards, which is pretty much worse than what Renshaw did. All Renshaw did was to protect the bloke he is meant to, he just did his job. Add that to the fact that Renshaw is easily the best lead-out rider in the world and it makes him an easy target for stuff like this.

Clearly an attempt by the French to stop Cavo winning the green, because he'll still win it cos he's ****ing super Cavo.

Heh, that's pretty ridiculous, fair enough a stage dsq, but for the whole tour? Are the two nutters who were trying to belt the snot out of each other still allowed to ride?

Renshaw shouldn't of been kicked out, because McEwen didn't get kicked out when he head butted O'grady a few years back, only relegated to last place in the big peloton that he finished in. Paolo Bettini at the 2005 Giro forced Baden Cooke into the barriers at the end of the stage and Bettini was relegated to 4th place because he won the sprint out of four people. Barredo and Costa had a scrap and copped a fine and are still racing.

For those who may not be aware, if you get relegated for sprinting irregularly (ie moving off your line, head butting etc.), you move to last in the group of people that you finished in. For example, if a group of 50 riders come in and you win, but get relegated, then you move to 50th position on the stage (and rider 51 comes in 15 seconds later), not last overall, unless all the riders come into the finish together (doesn't happen as guys drop off the back due to tiredness, or they crash). So if there is 180 riders left in the race and they come into the finish, then you would get relegated to 180th position.

Yeah, its pretty stupid. Obviously someone important doesnt like Cavendish, would put a large sum of money on if it was someone from Astana or Saxobank, they would have only been slapped on the wrist.

Still maintain Hushovd's a softcock for moaning last year and getting Cav's Green points taken off him for no reason.

Hushovd would still have won, because unlike Cav, Hushovd has the ability to go for long breaks in the mountains to pick up points.

Back to the racing, tough stage last night, and I hope they go to Mende more often, the amount of people, and how tough the hill was, incredible. Was hoping that Vino would get the stage win TBH.

Well no, the points gap was only 10 points at the end and he had 14 points taken off him for no reason. Would've won it by 4 points basically.

Naah, the barriers weren't in a proper line, so they both held their lines but Hushovd got squeezed as the barriers stuck out for no reason.
