yup but can you name a player of the minnows in IPL??What utter BS! The IPL teams can already field players from a minnow nation if they are good enough. If you want to make it compulsory, no friggin' way.
not ICC but BCCIThe name Bruce Campbell is Australasian enough for me. Let's put him up in place of Johnny Howard for the ICC gig.
maybe a league could be formed in a place like the Emirates or even Canada where u would have 7 players from the top tier of international teams and the other 4 from minnow sides...would give them good exposure playing alongside the internationals...If they're gonna spend that they should send 50 million to me as president (for now) of my local club, to develop the game.
Can you get them to send it to:
Post Office Box 1
Cloud ****oo Land
Thanks.
I agree with this.BCCI can do one thing quite easily ...make the rule that each IPL Teams can field 1 player from minnow nation apart from 4 foreign players ,this will increase the interest of franchise in good players from minnow nation ....
n that will be quite effective ...cricket will automatically b popularise there in minnow nation's .....
What do you guys think of this???
yup and it will also help to get people of these nations interested to cricketI agree with this.
Even if someone like Taibu Or Deschate are better than some picked ,they do not have the brand value to get picked in the IPL or the links with coaches and captains which lead to the likes of Martyn to get picked.
It will be one big positive and a bargaining tool with the ICC and other boards too for the IPL if it can help spread the game into other regions. Besides with teams increasing the quality of cricket can also go down due to lack of Indian players.
Taibu was bought by Kolkata for the first IPL auction and if I recall correctly did appear. I have no problem with minnow players being up for auction, as in the case of RtD, Taibu, Rizwan Cheema, etc. and no problem with them playing if they're good enough - as Taibu did in 2008. But forcing teams to select at least one "minnow" players - and if its compulsary to play one then they'll obviously require a couple of reserves - is just shelling out contracts for no reason. Half the current New Zealand and English T20 sides can't even get IPL contracts but suggesting a compulsary minnow player would require 20-30 more players selected for the heck of it! I doubt the Indian players will be less than impressed that this Indian league suddenly requires an extra spot for non-test playing internationals either.I agree with this.

He played three matches and made 31 runs @ 10.33. I love your definition of "fact", for the record.and one fact Taibu didnt get a single match to play
may be but he has been released by KKR nowHe played three matches and made 31 runs @ 10.33. I love your definition of "fact", for the record.

or make it 5 overseas playersNot make it compulsory for them to play.
Give the Franchisees a option of having 4 players overseas and if they want one extra it has to be from a minnow nation. Otherwise they can play 7 players from India only.
And not just Taibu ,I think The likes of Deschate , Noor Ali and Nial O'brien could do a good job.
May said: "When you see the figures about global revenues, a lot comes from India already. The people who already invest in global ICC events are also those to some extent investing in the IPL.11 associates for me - would clearly raise the standard.
what do say to my previous point??Great thread. Don't know why you stepped away from Pro35 to promote Pro40 as an option.
Thought you had a winner with Pro 35.
