Can't wait for someone to defend this performance with the bat.

And by the way, if he comes out and bowls us to victory that won't be the point.

He is a ****ing disgrace with the bat.

Yeh, somehow I think Yusuf would have been more useful than this, or even, heaven forbid - Yuvraj?

India 2.06 on Betfair. Back to where we were at pre-game

****ing should have hedged when they got to 1.6. Was waiting for it to get to 1.5

God damn.

SL gave away about 20 runs with that pathetic fielding display.

India evened it out by letting Jadeja bat.

From a neutral point of view, I dont see Jadeja as a particularly good batsman and I dont think he appears up to much boundry hitting either. I always felt Pathan was a good option in that sense.

Having said that, blaming the number 7 bat for poor batting is a bit over the top, specially since there is a star studded lineup from 1 to 6 who should be more than capable of doing the job without relying on the said number 7.

From a non neutral perspective, I hope he retains a spot in the ODI and Tests for many more years to come with similar unremarkable performances :D

Jadeja should bat below Harbhajan and Khan, and in all honesty, is a pathetic LO Batsman. But his bowling alone merits a spot in the team. The skipper has to cop the blame for sending him at No.7. Don't think you can blame the second-worst batsman in your team for a bad batting display. Would be like blaming McG for not hitting out IMO.

Jadeja isn't the only one to blame for this ****.

Dhoni, Kirsten and the selectors need to put their hand up too.

How many times must Jadeja cost us (or almost cost us) a match? T20 World Cup 07, the infamous Sachin chase vs. Australia last year where he choked hard and ran himself out, his innings vs. Pakistan last match etc. before they realise he sucks with the bat, and especially when the pressure is on?

But the point is, he gets the blame because of people believing him to be a decent bat, and him, due to his limited batting ability, not satisfying their expectations. Not helped by the fact that Dhoni has illusions of Jadeja being the next Sobers and sends him ridiculously high in the batting order.

100% agree.

People's expectations of him are still high. And for no reason. Wtf has he done to make people think he's a gun number 7?

Seriously. He has two hands around his neck when he bats.

What are your thoughts on present Indian and Lankan teams fielding under pressure? They're doing well when things are going good for the team, particularly India, but once a batting side turns up the heat and puts them under pressure, they seem to fall apart. After being talked up highly by experts in the recent past, as late as the last match, the Lankans have been very poor on the field today, notably Maharoof.

It's a good start for the seamers so far, so let's just hope they stretch it throughout the first ten overs. Dilshan's been a thorn in their flesh for some time, and Kumar's got that thorn out early, so that's some pressure off. Then again, Tharanga hit a four two balls ago.
