Starting to think the Aussies don't deserve to win if they manage to fluff a chance like that.

Actually Clapo, how the comment I made is remotely different from about 100 made each day in OT without comment, I look forward to your explaining...
Just seemed a bit pettier than usual (given the nature of this thread)/like you were looking for an argument on first look. Apologies, as in hindsight it wasn't much.

Out of interest, does Aus have the similar culture of watching football/soccer in the pub the UK has?

Really proud of that performance. Had chances to win it but that was more of an Aussie performance.

Hmmm so basically we need to beat Serbia, and hope Germany give Ghana a right thrashing

Team looked so much better today though, bit of endeavour & energy about them. Defence still looks incredibly shaky though.

That's it then I guess. We need Germany to flog Ghana, and to beat Serbia by a few. A Ghana win would do the job too.

Entertaining game, quality atrocious though. Ghana have SFA going forward, a fact that the media inexplicably missed after their gifted victory over Serbia. Hard to criticise Australia after holding out for so long but their defence was full of holes for the whole of the second half, Craig Moore may be the worst player at the tournament, his absence is a huge boost ahead of the Serbia game.

Penalty was a 50/50, as evidenced by the split over it on CW. It's either a penalty and a red or no penalty, ftr. Ref can't just make the rules up.

Reasonably pleased with that effort. We were the better side in the second half IMO, with only 10 on the field, and could easily have won it. Would take a miracle to make the second round but that was definitely a lot better than the effort against Germany.
