The Wheel is Forever
Im not sure about that. Certainly the golf is miles behind the World Cup in terms of interest and coverage and quite frankly the World Cup is generating more interest than the NBA finals across the country. The NBA may have more fans but the World Cup is a bigger event.

You would be suprised how few people pay any interest to the NBA outside of hardcore fans and teams doing well.
Lakers parade 2010 after NBA Finals Game 7 with the biggest global audience ever - CSMonitor.com

But you are right, as an overall tournament, when WC is on, obviously people do pay attention.

Players might be getting used to the balls now it seems.
Yeah, with shooting, but I still think there's a lack of control from any ball with any pace on it, and problems with long passing.

but it's been a better World Cup over the last few days.

Yeah, think that''ll improve more too. Forwards have been talking a lot about how much they've just been practicing striking with it since they got to South Africa. More to come, especially form the really high technique players (Messi, Torres, Xavi etc).

The Great Satan looking really ordinary here.

Reminds me they were pretty much reliant on duff goalkeeping and a pace-free defender for their one and a half chances against us.

I am. Golf is huge but only with an (admittedly large) sub-culture. Outside that you dont see the general population following the Majors and the Ryder Cup like in the UK for example.

The NBA is really interesting. There are certain cities that are passionate about the game and certain demographics also are but it seems to have almost lost the general population. Many people dont care or even pay any attention. I live and work with Americans and the only time people show a genuine interest in basketball is not the NBA but college 'March Madness.'

Admittedly the US will forget about football for 4 years after the WC but during the WC the coverage is huge on TV and the newspapers and every bar and a lot of stores have banners and flags. Due to the size and scope of the event it has far more people showing an interest (even casual) than in the golf or the basketball.

Even in an unscientific experiment such as looking at the facebook updates of my US friends. There are many, many about the football and only 1 about the basketball (by a guy from LA.)

Now luckily the WC is up against baseball, basketball and golf. It it was on during American Football season then it would get far less attention.

That is a giant steaming turd of a yellow card

The refereeing had been really good until today.
