Yea the promising thing about Shazhad from an England point of view is he looks like someone who can a) bowl with the old ball and b) knock over tailenders. Obviously a bit different to the other seamers.

England have enforced the follow on and play will start at 1.15pm.

Oh and I said Bangladesh would struggle to make 450 between their two innings. So 234 or less please.

Exactly,we have lacked a guy capable of knocking over the tail for years. He is obviously very raw but he looks to have more to work with than his county teammate Bresnan at test level.

One thing that he needs is games to carry on his development so we can't drag him round to sit on his arse doing nothing like we did with Anderson and Rashid.

Ah, thank god for that. Would much rather watch Tamin bat then Strauss and co. No doubt with this being the first innings I get to watch live of this series he'll finally fail though.

Shahzad showed a lot more than Bresnan in any case. Hit 90mph, and was more accurate than I thought he'd be too. Something to work with anyway.

Ha, bollox. Mixed feelings, tbh. Lovely nut, but Tamim is a joy to watch.

Siddique and Kayes just don't gird the loins in the same way.

Both batsmen lucky to still be there. If things go England's way, Bang could easily fail to reach three figures.

This is what highlights the pointlessness in Bangladesh having a Test series in England I'm afraid.

Small crowd, little interest, batsmen getting knocked over for fun.

Bangladesh need to concentrate on home Tests and tours against county sides so they can learn these sorts of conditions in quieter settings against teams they've got a chance against.

Well Bangladesh have been playing tests for around 10 years now and have two test-class players (Tamim and Shakib), which is two more than they've ever had previously but obviously not enough to seriously compete at this level. Maybe in another ten years time they will be competitive, but I seriously worry that the cricketing infrastructure and domestic set up in Bangladesh just isn't conducive to producing quality test cricketers.

I think any infrastructure in isolation will struggle, these players need experience of different conditions. I think to some degree every country struggles to give good experience of every situation, Bangladesh is just particularly limited in that regard. For instance a decade or so in particular there were few good wrist spinners in County Cricket and that was reflected in England's international side.

Bangladesh above all else need A tours and suchlike to give them this experience - not brief Test series where they get destroyed. The experience of playing in different conditions and different bowlers as well as exposure to quality exponents of them. This in turn will help to raise the standard of Bangladesh's domestic structure as well as the eventual international sides.
