*Official* Bangladesh in England

Yeah, I was counting down the runs actually. Managed to get his average up to 49.60, but then decided to chuck it away. Was excellent bowling from Shakib though, as Sky just proved. Excellent example of Flight and Turn. Swanneh could have a field-day out here, especially in the 4th innings.

Anyone think we may have picked the wrong Asian allrounder from Yorkshire?

The pitch is turning loads for day 1,could have done with 2 spinners.

Well it takes something pretty exceptional to pick two spinners in a 4-man attack.

As I've said before I think England have to go for a 5-man attack. It would make things much simpler if Rashid was reliable enough to be the number 7, but I don't think we're close to that stage yet.

Should be somewhere near 350 at the close so despite Bangladesh having a good first half of the day they still can't stop sides scoring quickly and getting away from them.Swann will fancy his chances on this pitch with the extra bounce and lots of turn.

Bell is topping up his average against the Banglas and looks in good nick and Morgan has played well so far. Both need to go on though as somebody will lose out to Collingwood against Pakistan and Trott and KP look certainties to remain in the side.

Had to laugh at Nasser's "Third Man" segment trying to justify how much KP has improved against spin minutes after being stumped by 2 metres

They obviously had the footage lined up and didnt have anything to replace it with

Such are the pitfalls of live tv

What a catch. Morgan goes, the stroke wasn't played brilliantly, should have either kept it down or thrown everything at it; excellent catch though. Not the sort of catch you're used to seeing from Bangladesh.

So want Bell to ton up so I can see his freckly little face this summer.
Well he is certain to be there, whether it is a member of the team or a drinks carrier is up for debate but you will see him in Australia unless he gets injured.

I think it is a pretty easy selection now,the 6 in this match and Collingwood will be the bats we take.Just have no idea who we will take for bowling once you get beyond Anderson,Broad,Finn and Swann.

Decent catch that to get rid of Morgan. Now Prior needs to play properly as he needs some runs.

Depends on how Shahzad gets on, how Bresnan bowls for Yorkshire when he's back fit, how Sidearse goes for Notts and is then dependant on whether anyone stands out in County Cricket. Possibly Kabir Ali, Simon Jones, Sajid Mahmood, Liam Plunkett, Mark Davies, Chris Tremlett, Adil Rashid, James Harris, Chris Woakes, Steve Kirby, or possibly even Stephen Harmison. Just depends on who performs really, as I imagine 1 of those guys will end up on the plane to Australia.

Trouble is there are so many candidates and nobody really that you could say for certain. Also who will be the 2nd spinner, hope it isn't Tredwell. As much as i like him as a player you need variety so it should be Panesar or Rashid to back up Swann.

Prior will be the keeper and it is a straight fight between Kieswetter and Davies as back up.

Has he been in decent touch with the gloves?
Yeah, it seems a pretty popular idea that as his glovework has improved his abtting form has slwoly left him.
Though he did palm a catch to slip in the first Test didn't he?

Davies and Rashid win the two battles you've mentioned there IMO.
I agree but Rashid was overlooked for the tour to Bangladesh and Kieswetter is making a huge impression on the selectors. The way they back hunches these days they are difficult to predict.Who at the end of last season would have said Finn and Shahzad would both have played tests before the end of the first half of this year.

Monty hasn't really done all that much since he was dumped out of the England side, he's another finger spinner and he offers nothing with the bat or in the field. I wouldn't be all that surprised if we take Tredwell though as a like for like replacement for Swann. I just think Rashid would have a better time of it down under and his batting is a big bonus. Though ideally Swanneh stays fit and takes 60 wickets.

Kieswetter in the Test arena would be a bit of a farce. I realise that the decks in Australia aren't likely to bbe too lively but he's yet to make a FC century away from Taunton. Davies is also better behind the stumps.
