Battle of Cricketers - CW's Favorite Cricketer

GIMH

Norwood's on Fire
'Useful spinner and lower-order batsman'

WTF

Should read

'World-class all-rounder, bowls spin & bats aggressively. Better than Hauritz.'

Yeah a bit surprised by the voting myself. Hadlee was of course a phenomenal cricketer, but (outside of NZ at least) I'd never had the impression that he was a player that people looked on with particular affection or fondness.
To be honest, I think it was his post-cricket career as an actor in James Bond, and other movies (including Hot Fuzz, pictured) that has endeared him to people:

Jungle Jumbo

International Vice-Captain
Swann
Gough

Not really sure I get all this voting for players who you've never seen play at all, I can't quite get the affection. Guess this is the whole point in the battle though, whatever floats your boat and all that.

Maybe in football I'd be inclined to vote for a few more of the legends of the past, don't know why it would be any different at cricket.

EDIT: Although a character like Trueman I could understand. I'm confusing myself here though.

Haha too good Matt. Too good!

Never noticed until now. Amazing look-a-like

Bah, love Ranji and Swanni. Pretty hard to split them but love the romance of an Indian prince travelling halfway round the world to play for England so going with Ranji.

FST in the play-off. The curmudgeon's curmudgeon.

Fantastic likeness. They actually look extremely similar.

Ranji (Sussex)
Richards (not Yorkshire)

Pretty straightforward one, that

Swanny unlucky though. Unlucky to lose out, and especially unlucky not to play for Sussex
