Where have I tried to "decode" Australia or it's psyche? I said Howard failed to win election in his own constituency. it could be due to n number of reasons. But it all points out to the fact that he was unpopular.

He might have won many elections, but fact remains he lost his last one, and literally got thrown out. I stand by all the 3 points I made. Mere vitriol by some Howard apologists here doesnt mean I have to be embarassed.
While one might say Howard's defence is atleast spirited (Andre's post was really good, although I disagree with him), some Indian posters seem to be more than happy to bring in totally unrelated Pawar's case into this, and make downright silly accusations about him like he's corrupt, inefficient etc.
If he's corrupt, he'd be charged already. If he's incompetent as a minister, he wouldn't be occupying the chair of minister for so long, and if he'd been incompetent as an MP, he'd not be winning elections like Howard.
Big LOL at Howard being "overqualified" for the job.

Also love how if a Prime Minster loses an election, it makes him unfit to run any organization. Because you know, becoming PM is just something you do. Never losing an reelection is what really counts.
