*Official* Bangladesh in England

The pitch is pretty flat, it's Lords, but the main problem has been England's bowling. Finn and Swann have gone OK but Bresnan and Anderson bowled terribly, especially Bresnan. Not been a good performance from England in the field.

FFS. Bresnan back on for his 12th over. Really wish we had a 5th bowler, as I cannot stand watching him bowl.

50 up for Siddique. Been a very nice innings. Again helped by some pathetic bowling, but he's put them away very well. Good effort. Bangladesh have played very well today.

There'll be plenty of moisture around tomorrow apparently so expect a few wickets to tumble. We need to go back into the hut with 8 wickets in hand.

Finn looks a very good prospect and obviously Swann is excellent but if the only backup Eng has got are Anderson (I'll be polite and say he's out of form but reckon he's done and average anyway), Bresnan, Broad and Sidearse then the cupboard is empty

He's only 27ish

When did you change your tune? Last I heard it was all a spoof and he's actually pretty rubbish.
I never said he was "rubbish" or a "spoof"

I happen to think that he is ridiculously overrated by some but an excellent traditional type offie nonetheless

In other words, he's not fit to shine Murali or Warnie's bootstraps but should have a pretty good test career

FMD Bresnan's a hack, isn't he? Tamim is quality, but treated Timothy with disdain.

Jimmeh looks like he bowled well with little luck. Coupla real jaffas; Sir Geoffrey even trotted out his "wasted on him" line for one that climbed and left Kayes from a length.

In your opinion who are fit to shine murali or warne's bootstraps in the current crop?

Assuming you're watching five's edited highlights that don't show him banging the ball in halfway down and the batsmen watching it past and wondering why he was wasting (a) their time, (b) his time, (c) the ball and (d) the time of everybody watching.

Surely that's a simple question? No one is on their level right now and I dare say it may be some time before anyone is - there are no obvious wrist/mystery bowlers around who look like they could go on to 700+ wickets - or, let's be fair, anywhere near that.

Guilty as charged, yeah. In fact Hughes just said he was generally too short on his analyst bit. 55% of his deliveries short of a length, apparently.

Yep

Jimmeh was largely rubbish today

I think the English press have been unfair to BD so far saying that they will lose no matter what and that they will be completely outclassed and humiliated. They have significantly improved over the last 12 months and after pushing England in BD where BD couldve even won a game or two its really unfair. I can understand the Aussie press saying that but England is a bit extreme. Also BD selection was wrong. They left out Shafiul who is the best of the lot which doesn't say much but still the Robiul guy was a disaster. NOT test quality at all. But because he played well in the warm ups got the chance so you cant blame the selection. But its pretty obvious now after seeing him. If BD can continue and if they can sneak in a draw and they include Shafiul in the next Test it will be the best line BD have ever fielded in test history. Even if their performance is worse, this is a group that can only improve and they have to be fair.

I think even most of their detractors would accept that Bangladesh's batting has improved hugely in the last couple of years. I honestly can't remember when they were last bowled out for under 200. But until they start bowling sides out for under 400, especially in the first innings, they'll continue to struggle to compete at this level.
