Would pay to see your reaction Burgey, if Parramatta were to ever sign him :p
Would be a great partner for Poore tbh. Neither has a go.

Fantastic hit and spin there from Shillington - shades of Artie Beetson.

Haha Hayne. Just take em on son. No other **** in the team has points in them.

Idris. Been misjudging tackles like that all year, so they pick him to mark Inglis, next to Hayne, who's playing out of position.

Yay us. ****s.

Really hope we keep picking these wide-running, big, back rowers who continue to make 4 tackles per game. Sure they get lapped by the smaller Qld forwards who out-work them, but ooh baby, jeez they run fast and look ***eh in their jerseys.

Selectors should all bugger off and resign. Embarrassing.

Honestly that's so pathetic. Beaten by two pathetic pieces of footy by two players a blind rat could tell aren't up to this level.

Idris was a terrible selection, and this insistence on playing Gidley when there are at least 3 better fullbacks running around just so he can inspire the team into failure has to rank amongst the stupidest and most consistently stupid pieces of selection respectively. No doubt we'll just sack Bellamy after the 3-0 drubbing we have coming but the walking lobotomy Daley will continue to hamstring any chance NSW have of winning for the next 5 years.

Only good thing to come out of tonight was Petero, House and Lewis making it out unscathed

Hmm. Would think Waterhouse and Lewis would both be very, very fresh tbh.

Thought House went ok in the first half. Lewis just doesn't appear to be replicating his club form at Origin level. He needs to look harder for the ball.

The scores tonight did not replicate the massive gap between the two sides. QLD were without Hodges, Hannat, Price & Smith (to name a few) and we still well and truly out played NSW, a few lucky calls only got them within 4.

Honestly, Hannant and Smith will be back for the next game, on a dry track. I fear what kind of score QLD will put on.

I thought this was supposed to be the best NSW side ever picked? That is what Fittler & Johns said on the Sunday footy show...

The media are idiots. The constant talking up of Idris despite his glaring defensive deficiencies (Gould even had the nerve to blame Inglis' try on Hayne) and lines like "Kurt Gidley is the key here" should be evidence enough of that fact.

This seems to be a problem with the whole team - they stand back and wait to be led around, instead of playing what's in front of them.

Hayne to FB for the next game.

Thought he really bombed a try by showing off last night though. He tried to draw the last line of defence by throwing one of those ridiculous no-look passes...and it went straight into touch!

Qld by 4.
Woot.

When you think about it, we have the better fullback, Centre, halves, prop and hooker - for the last five years, the better players in the crucial positions.

It's gone on too long to be a dynasty - it's a way of life!

This. He should have just taken em on tbh. NSW need to adopt Parra's "FFS, just give Hayne the ball" philosophy.

Gidley to five-eigth, Lyon and Tahu the centres, Hayne the FB. Not sure there's much they'll do in the forwards. The starting props went ok I thought. Maybe another forward on the bench. Dunno tbh.

It was at a really crucial time too.

NSW were still well in the game.

I'm not sure whether there is anybody that is a glaring ommission from that NSW team. They should just stick with the basic 17 at least then they have continuity and won't have to start again in camp - but just shuffle the bacline to get Hayne to fullback.

He just needed to look where he was passing it that's the frustrating thing. The pass was always on if he didn't needlessly complicate it.

Hayne and Tahu got skinned all night though I don't know how much of that was Hayne playing out of position. I don't think Tahu did enough tbh particularly with the other Morris breathing down his neck. Wouldn't have Gidley anywhere near the halves either. He's intelligent, but doesn't have a kicking or running game to speak of. That said I have NFI who I'd put there. Pearce should come into the team in the 7 though.

At this point I'd go with injuries permitting etc.

1. Hayne
2. Morris
3. Morris
4. Lyon
5. If they were fairdinkum they'd pick M Gordon but we'll probably see Gidley or White stuck there. Maybe Mini?
6. NFI, Kimmorley I guess. Carney a smokey but I haven't been all that amazed by his return to the halves.
7. Pearce
8. Weyman
9. Ennis
10. Snowden
11. Gallen (we really missed this guy)
12. Watmough
13. Lewis (on notice)

14. TLL
15. Perry
16. Creagh
17. Gidley I guess.

Going to be controversial and call Gallen as captain. The guy's a **** but he's the only player with any semblance of leadership qualities who's plays 80 minutes and is genuinely good enough to walk into the side.

My side
1. Hayne
2. Morris
3. Cooper
4. Lyon
5. Morris
6. Barrett? (really struggling here, Carney could play if he was better at 5/8th this year....)
7. Kimmorley (unless Pearce is fit)
8. Weyman
9. Ennis (or Farah if Pearce is picked)
10. Douglas (I'd go Poore but he's been **** this year)
11. Watmough
12. Gallen
13. Bird

14. Lewis
15. Mason
16. Snowden
17. Hindmarsh

Pick guys who work their arses off imo. Said it last year - of course it helps with the backs Qld has, but check their forwards out. They win because they do the little things so well.
Loose ball? They fall on it.
Someone misses a tackle? They cover for one another.
Pinned on their line? They get back and take it up faster than we do.
Other team has a good kicking game? Their forwards harrass the crap out of them.

There really isn't that much between players at Origin level. I mean, I bag these blokes but they can all play ffs. You don't reach that level if you can't.

But honestly, when has a wide-running, rangy back rower ever won you an Origin? The job's done in tight. Which is nice if you're with a lady, and pretty important when you're on a footy field too.
