So since Chanderpaul started playing...

Tendulkar
Lara
Ponting
Dravid
Waugh
Kallis

Jayawardene
Hayden
Inzamam
Sangakkara

MoYo
Flower
Kirsten
Smith
Sehwag
Pietersen

Clarke
Martyn
Anwar
Hussey
Gilchrist

They all probably have cases against Shiv but I'd say only 5-6 are certainly a class above.
Ones in bold are the ones who I think are definately better then Chanderpaul.

Chanderpaul won't be remembered in 20-30 odd years because he hasn't done anything to be remembered for and did you see how quickly forgotten Chanderpaul was after his 2 years of great success when he started failing?

Someone like Justin Langer will be remembered more then Chanderpaul merely because he was one-half of the greatest Opening partnership of his era which was in the same team of arguably the greatest team ever.

Virat Kohli (c)
They may be 'better' but have they had 'better' careers yet?

You can't say that about KP, Hussey, Smith or Sehwag just yet.

You probably won't remember him. Don't speak for everyone else.

Not sure Chanderpaul will ever be forgotten.

A) He has one of the coolest cricketer names.
B) One of the few standout cricketers from the West Indies in an entire era.
C) Batted with such a unique stance and style.
D) Scored heavily against some of the better teams of the 00's

He'll be forgotten because people will always talk about how Lara was so great in such a piss poor team that everyone else will be irrelevant.

Katich has a similar technique, so he won't be remembered for that and there were plenty who did better against the better teams.

Yep there were 2 people who did better against the better teams. Neither of whom you included in your list of players better than him ITSTL.

Sigh.. sample size is also important, players with 800 runs isn't exactly the same as having 5000+

Wouldn't say anyone above him insults his talent, maybe only Pietersen but hes only getting underway.
Wow look how low Kallis is.
Ugh... maybe because I was counting away records only?

Playing in Sri Lanka and Australia in the 1990s wasn't as difficult as it was during the 2000s.

Runs between 2000-2007 in Sri Lanka and Australia were more valuable then at any other stage. With the only exceptions in that period being when Murali wasn't playing and the 2003/04 series against India where neither McGrath or Warne played and Australia's bowling attack was pretty mediocre; so it was more like making runs against New Zealand/West Indies then it was against Australia. South Africa throughout the decade was always a pretty tough place to tour, so there wasn't really necessary reason to exclude stats from there for any particular reason. The retirement of Pollock saw the emergence of Steyn.

Interesting that Tendulkar's average drops down to 31.

Tendulkar was in his worst form between 2003-2007, This is like judging Vivian Richards by using 1985-1990 as a sample or AB by using 1990-1994 as a sample.

Love the way the likes of Lee and MacGill get dismissed by Aussie fans in these statsguru debates. That's over 500 Test wickets right there. And I'm not even taking into consideration other very good bowlers like Stuart Clark. You can add Gillespie to that list as well, Australia's best bowler when they conquered the "Final Frontier".

Lol, if only you watched that series aye? Gillespie was carrying an injury, Lee was probably at his worst at that time point in time and they were carrying the likes of Brad Williams and Nathan Bracken who weren't near Test class. Love the way people under-analysis things.
