I suppose we'll have to stick Hayne out there, and Gidley to the back, then. I simply can't think of any other options.
Nah, play Hayne at one and be done with it.

He was their best player in the series last year, and was going like a busted pre-series anyway.

He lifts for it.

Love Gidley, but reckon he's more value off the bench tbh. Can't see it mattering anyway. If they pick, or are even thinking of picking Kite, then Qld by 60 anyway

If they're looking for a proven player at Origin, Tahu can play wing as well. Yeah I'm biased or whatever, but he should be there if they're worried about defending against Qld's outside backs. He's the only bloke I've seen handle SBW with anything approaching ease. Smashes 'em.

Can't think of more options?!?! Lawrence, J Morris, B Morris, Uate, Minichiello, Jennings and Tahu would all be reasonable chances of being on the wing for NSW.

Yeah mate, we are going to all 4 games, should be great fun!

I wonder what the record is for the most NRL matches watched over a round, I'm guessing 5.
The weekend I did three it included the Dragons vs Bulldogs and Tigers vs Eels double header at Stadium Australia.

Would love to see Uarte there, but I don't think he will be. Hell of an imposing player.

Agreed that Hayne should be at the back for the Blues. He's hand's down their most potent player and therefore should get his preferred position and the position in which he presents the biggest threat. I also think it would be a mistake for NSW to once again go looking for the next big things in the halves (i.e. Mitchell Pearce/Campese etc). They seemed, over the last few years, determined to unearth the next Joey Johns.

Much like Warnie, the next Joey Johns can't be created. Rather, the next one simply picks themselves. And, with respect to guys like Pearce, it's a dead set punt rather than him picking himself. I'd rather go with hard heads in the halves even if they're getting on a bit.

With suspension, guys pissing off to England, guys getting injured...you can never plan for the future in Origin. Rather, it's about winning. You just pick your best team each year to try and win the series.

Agree but at the same time Pearce is probably their best option for this year.

Sadly I think you're right.

He's a decent kid and all, but I just don't see him leading a winning Origin side around the park tbh. Having said that, Mullen hasn't been consistent enough for mine, Luke Walsh is going good but seems kick-happy, Kimmorley has aged too.

Be tempted to pick Carney there tbh. Big call though.

Carney was never a good halfback though, he played all his best games in the halves when he was a five-eighth.

Haha. So you've basically picked the same team as me apart from not picking Bird at 6.

I don't think Gidley is good a utility player at all. I can't remember him doing anything of any note in a match where he's come on from the bench.

I'm starting to go off Jennings a little for the Origin starting centre spot, his knee/leg is troubling him a little bit too much.

Looking forward to seeing Bird and Gallen together again - a model of Origin consistency, impact and most of all, discipline.

Carney, Hayne, Mini, Tahu etc - those guys are absolute class.

They've got the makings of a good backline, the Blues.

If they pick them.

Games are always won up front anyway. Must pick a hard working pack, but they'll go for the 115kg backrowers who make 12 tackles a game and wonder why the light weight, hardworking Queenslanders finish all over them.

I can't believe what I'm seeing from Melbourne tonight, easily the worst and least patient performance I've seen from a Storm team in a long long time.

Yep, and nicely complimented by Manly getting away with murder int he ruck and being about 3 metres off side all night.

Good intensity from them though.

Amazing to see Penrith 2nd at the moment, don't think anyone saw that coming.
