Haha nope, he is indeed a 32yo comp/comp specialist batsman. I just have no one better to put there. I don't have any room for trainees and I don't want to spend any money buying a stop-gap player so he stays! That spot being filled by him rather than say, a superb or quality doesn't really make a huge difference to me. Would obviously be handy but that's why I've got 8 batsmen before him.

And FWIW, I would make Fillery a wrist spinner. He's already destructive, so when you add the increase in wicket-taking ability he'll get from being a wrist-spinner he's going to take wickets really frequently. Obviously go for heaps of runs in the process, but he'll be a freak. Only 19 as well so you need to make sure you give him a decent amount of nets to extract the most out of him. Depends on your squad and training regime but I'd be looking at 1 x fitness and 1 x bowling at the very very least, and pending availability another bowling and possibly a fielding.

Fair enough.

And yeah, I'm going to make Fillery my wrist spinner, he should dominate. I wouldn't mind getting a defensive offie to bowl down the other end, they could work well together.

Got him on 1 bowling, 1 stam, 1 fielding ATM.

I would probably chuck him on 2 bowling rather than the one fielding, if only until he turns 20. Secondaries take an age to pop for young players and his bowling will only take longer to pop as he gets older. It's not as though he's really lacking in secondaries anyway.

Just the one pop today, his cons should catch by the time he hits wonderful.

He turns 20 in a few weeks, whenever they age, so no point wasting the money on the nets for only a couple of sessions.

For the second week out of the last three I have pulled a respectable primary with 0 ITS. Shame about the abysmal/worthless secondaries and stamina. Knowing my luck first week of the new season on full ITS I will only pull a mediocre.

I pulled a worth/resp/feeb bowler, imagine is I had 12/12/12 on stam/bowl/cons.

from next season onwards, or when they reach superb (your choice), drop them back to 1 primary net each and get them all on 1 stamina net each. it will pay dividends in the long run.

Announcement #5 possibly the biggest announcement of the last fortnight.

I am a fan. Gives players greater individuality, and opens up numerous tactical options. Can only laugh if my star trainee picks up the Lazy trait.

Agreed. But I won't be laughing, I'll be raging.

We secured the OD title today. :) First time we've gone through an OD season undefeated.

These changes are scary. :(

Smashed the team coming last today to secure second last. Could've come third last if I'd played my first team for the whole season but decided I'd rather concentrate on FC where I came 4th (or 3rd last). Went ok in Twenty20 though, coming 4th in amongst some decent teams.

Canterbury Chargers Season 15 Review

League Position

One Day League V.154: 3rd Place

Good position in a relatively easy league. Quality of competition suffered as a couple of teams turned bot mid-season. Good chance that next season will see a decent league formed, with two bots disposed of. Aim for next season is to maintain a 3rd Place or higher considering the increased level of competition.

First Class League IX.120: 1st Place

Dominated a league mostly compiled of bots, or poorly managed teams. Have been stuck in this league since joining in Season 13, held back in past two seasons due to always being one better team than my own.

Depending on league joined next season, I might treat FC Div VIII as my preferred format. I quite enjoy the tactical side of First Class.

BT20 VI.343: 4th Place

Never cared for BT20, will focus on promotion once I stagnate in my other two leagues.

Finances

My finances are well on track. Bank balance rests at $2.9M in the bank, drawing $390k in a week that involves both a FC and OD game. Stadium could do with an upgrade, otherwise I will hold off on any major expenditure until I see the level of competition I face next season.

My Team

Finished the season with the following lineup (the best I could field).

Donald 19 Resp/Comp - Feeble
Beech 22 Comp/Comp
Naseem 21 Resp/Fee
Caulfield 19 Sup/Strong
Carey 17 Prof/Res
Fuller 26 Resp/Woe
Lombard 19 Comp/Woe - Med/Comp
Gerber 18 Worth/Comp - Sup/Stron
Zibi 21 Worth/Abys - Resp/Comp
Baholo 19 Abys/Stro - Sup/Sup
Salmon 19 Worth/Worth - Comp/Comp

Reporters summary for the final game on GFI reads:

Top order: Competent
Middle Order: Respectable
Lower Order: Abysmal
Seam Bowling: Proficient
Spin Bowling: Superb
Fielding: Mediocre

Trainees are Caulfield, Baholo, Gerber and Carey. I made early mistakes with trainee's in my first season, but I have a detailed training plan in place now. Season 16 will see a new batsman added to the list, the aim is to either youth pull or spend the big money on a very good batsman. A trainee that will surpass strong before turning 18 is the goal.

Key performers Season 15

Batsman
Donald (OD) 556 runs @ 55.60 (FC) 426 runs @ 85.20
Beech (OD) 488 runs @ 69.71 (FC) 677 runs @ 135.40
Caulfield (OD) 481 runs @ 68.71 (FC) 710 runs @ 236.67

Bowlers
Baholo (OD) 20 wickets @ 15.40 (FC) 26 wickets @ 3.15
Gerber (OD) 19 wickets @ 12.74
Clegg (OD) 17 wickets @ 18.24 (FC) 31 wickets @ 14.00

The Future

Next season will be huge, a wealth of new changes coming to Battrick and probably the shake up the game needs. Will renew my membership for a full 12 months, enjoy all the features, provides a great diversion for 10 minutes a day, and I still live for the excitement of a Saturday morning trainee pop
