 18 runs in his final over.

Vaas dropped for exactly similar reason despite doing much better in the initial overs mate.
Yes would rather have Vaas. Harris still looks ordinary despite being a reasonable pace. Just seems samey and easy to attack. Obviously his death bowling is a joke. Granted I'm repeating myself here. Above all else though Deccan need to find some death bowling. That was atrocious.

Oh and for anyone who wasn't paying much attention Jayawardene was 47* off 48 balls at one point. Scored 46 off the last 14 balls faced.

Well, the chargers coach and captain are both Australians, so can expect some bias there. I am not against stuffing team full of Australians or even martians PROVIDED they justify their selection ahead of others. But Harris has been persisted here with despite being much worse a death bowler than Vaas, which gets my goat.

Anyway that's through. Indeed awesome acceleration from Jaya there. I think they'd have ended up with above 180 runs had pathan came ahead of Yuvraj.

At a guess, I'd say the reason was that Harris takes more wickets

But dont let the facts get in the way of another anti-Australian troll

pretty quick to give that stumping not out, looked to me like the bat may have bounced, not enough looks.

I'd take the player who takes a wicket every 13th ball at a cost of 6.6 per over over one who takes a wicket every 11th ball but goes at 8 per over.

But is a better bat, infinitely better fieldsman and has made better contributions all round

The reality is that you'd like the world to believe that you'd take a player of any nationality over an Australian

Sorry but it's old

I might have misunderstood you here but are you really saying Harris is a better batsman and fielder than Vaas?

Because there is no way Harris is better with the bat and I have seen Harris make a number of gaffes in the field.

Anti Aussie bias or not, Vaas should be playing ahead of Harris and Roach.

We're talking 2010 not 2000

I've seen Richard post some of the biggest drivel I've ever read about Chaminda (horribly inconsistent etc) but these days he's little more than a guy to make up the numbers

Yeah 8 wickets from 5 matches in IPL 2010 at 6 per over is making up numbers.

Seriously you ever watched IPL this year?

Yes he is not as good as he was but Harris has been ordinary, Kemar has been worse as the batsman have just been able to use his pace. Vaas has outperformed them both and deserves his place, past it or not.

Trust me this is not an anti Aussie rant or I would be wandering how the hell Mitch Marsh plays ahead of Dwayne Smith in a T20 match . It is more that I think Vaas has been extremely hard done by and Harris should not have done enough to keep his place.

Harris was the second most economical bowler in this match and a crucial player in their last victory as well

Remind me again how many matches Deccan won with Vaas in the team?

Unfortuantely, cricket is a team game and balance is everything

Anyway, good news is that Deccan march on and Mumbai's day of reckoning gets closer

No idea how Mitch Marsh got selected tbh

Despite the fact that there are literally scores of players in the world who are better than Smith (e.g. my pet cat), Marsh has been contracted on the basis of massive potential but zero performance and shouldnt have played

Yeah I know Smith's shocking at most things cricket but he is an extremely effective domestic T20 player, that is about his only plus point, and thus my surprise.

An excellent innings by Rohit sees Dc through in a very important game for them, and takes them to the top 4 for first time?

Right then, so the musical chairs for remaining 3 semi spots take another twist. csk who rose to no.2 position only 3 nights back now find themselves out of the top 4. Wow.

Remaining matches are

Mi vs Brc
KKR vs RR
Kxip vs csk
Dd vs dc
KKR vs mi

dd and Brc are almost there in the semi. Dc can guarantee it if they win their last match. Csk, in my opinion the only other contender for a semi spot, can make it if they beat Kxip and dc lose to dd.

RR and KKR have a chance but looks remote with their bad net run rates and recent form.

Lol when everything else fails resort to team's performance

gilly has to thank his indian players for facilitating this superb run from edge of oblivion, particularly the atlas Rohit sharma who has become the most sought wicket, suman, j singh, Ojha.

But credit where it is due, Gilly deserves praise for sticking on with this core group in deepest trouble and has rewarded them by just being one win away from a semi spot,

Signs are hugely ominous for other teams as gilly seems to reserve his best for the final round.

Rohit Sharma, what a champeeeeeeeeeeeeeen!

Can't wait for the Rohit and Kohli partnerships in the years to come

Really, really, really hope this rings true once more. I've been starved of some vintage Gilchrist domination. Effortless whips off the hips for anything down leg to booming drives with an immense swish of the bat. Even the slaps to cow corner are gorgeous when Gilly does them.

Oh wow I'm getting a bit nostalgic here
