shabbir ahmed i think is really tall unless the whole pakistan team is really short and he just sticks out alot when they huddle
Yeah, he'd have to be about 6'6'' at least

The current NZ bowling line-up is exceptionally tall (funnily enough, during the recent test series against England I recall Boycott complaining that NZ didn't have enough tall bowlers who could get bounce, like Harmison, which was laughable). Oram is at least 6'6'' and by all accounts is officially the tallest player in international cricket atm. Daryl Tuffey is 6'5'', and tips the scales at 103kg which is a pretty big unit for a fast bowler. Chris Cairns is 6'3'', and Daniel Vettori and Kyle Mills are probably about 6'4''.

So if they're tall enough then Boycott must have been complaining that they can't get the bounce like Harmison... :p

I would think that Fulton and Trevor Franklin are the tallest to have played for NZ. Tony Greig (6' 6 or 7") the tallest for England. Ishant Sharma is around 6' 5" I would imagine. Mushfiqur Rahim is only about 5' 2" and probably the littlest guy on the international circuit now.

Isn't there a freakishly tall Pakistani fast bowler supposed to be on the fringe of the team now?

Phil Alley, the former NSW pacer, was 6' 8" - 10"

Whenever I faced him, it felt like he was bowling off about 14 yards

Could've been high quality but back injuries crippled him

I also played against an Indian test opener from the 80s who was tiny (like 5' at most) but cant remember his name. It felt like bowling uphill as you virtually had to bowl a yorker to get him to play forward

Best "tall" batsman must've been Greg Chappell - well over 6 feet so was great on front foot but also hooked like a demon. In short, a bowler's nightmare

Was this in Grade cricket?

Young Steven Finn would be up there (see what I did there?) with Tahnny now.

&, dunno how tall he is (or isn't, rather) but James Taylor looks a proper short arse at the crease. Old man was a jockey, apparently, so doesn't have tall genes.

Just me, or are a lot of Indian wicketkeepers are among the shorter players of the game?

Kirmani didn't stand much taller than Gavaskar, nor More & Chandrakant Pandit over Tendulkar and of course the already mentioned Parthiv Patel is likely the most dimunitive of the lot. Dinesh Karthik too, not all that much taller than Sachin though he might be taller than his thin build suggests.

Besides Dhoni (average height for Indian team?) and the several years of a revolving door after More - this is most of the keeping for India for the last 35 years or so.
