The amusing thing the shot the baseballer played would've gone straight down the throat of a regulation mid-on

Haha. "It's perfectly legal to throw at the batter!"
I laughed pretty hard at that comment too.

The whole video was a joke really. The US national cricket team is probably around the standard of an Australian third grade side. I'd love to have seen someone like Tendulkar or Lara representing the batsmen and Steyn/Warne representing the bowlers.

The baseballer had the worst technique ever and it showed in the shots he played.

TBH I would like to get Steyn/Johnson at him and give him a proper touch up. Don't get him out, make him want to be out :p

There's no way they would have allowed a MLB hitter to face anything resembling challenging pace. The ****storm over the media release describing that injury would be intense.

Ehh, you got to consider the market they're catering to here. They just need some reaffirmation that their sport is relevant in a global context, and not more or less obscure outside of North/Central America and Japan/Korea.

Credit to them for describing cricket as one of the most popular sports in the world from the get-go. That being said, I think the poll is misguided. All they proved was that a cricket bat has a better sweet spot (if you count a leading edge as a sweet spot?), and facing against an amateur pie slinger means you can watch the ball into the bat.

YouTube - Fox Sport Science - Cricket v/s Baseball

done by fox sports so u know its scientific
Watched that the other day and had a good laugh. I noticed they disabled the comments section. Hmmm, wonder why.

Major League batter who earns millions a dollars a year vs some kid from the USA national cricket team who is an amateur who probably gets to train once a week. Sounds like a fair comparison.
Its harder to hit a baseball with a baseball bat than to hit a cricket ball with a cricket? Whats next? Its easier to hit a tennis ball with a tennis racquet than a golf ball with a golf club? Its easier to run 100 metres than a 42km marathon?

The only insightful thing I got out of that video was the comment about the difference between gripping the baseball bat and the cricket bat. No surprise it came from the cricketer.:p

I would actually love to see some baseball pitchers vs some cricket batsmen and some baseball batters vs some cricket bowlers in a couple of fun crossover games. They could play a couple of T20s and a baseball games and do it for charity or something. Watching the cricketers trying to straight drive bean balls would be quite amusing.

Watching that did make me realise how irrelevant bat speed is in cricket (unless you are on the marketing team for Mongoose)

Cricket, but I certainly don't hate baseball. I could never follow it (the season is just ridiculous) but I think its an interesting sport in its own right. I'm trying to get my American uncle (a sports journalist and a MASSIVE baseball fan) into cricket, but its tough going.

The two are pretty uncomparable though really.

Reckon someone like Gilchrist might be pretty decent at baseball if they practiced enough.
See, this is fair enough in the cricket vs baseball debate; both sports encourage the use of hitting a long wooden stick. The problem starts when people post that someone like Gilchurch would walk into any MLB team and dominate. Absolute bollocks.

Still cannot get on with NFL, one of the crappest sports I have ever watched.

Think I would like Baseball quite a bit if I actually tried to get into it but I already watch too much sport so am not going to try.
