Battle of Cricketers - CW's Favorite Cricketer

Always got the impression that he was a bit've dick after he questioned coloured clothing in limited overs cricket when it was pretty obvious. His body language gave me that impression aswell.
He was one of the great characters of his time, very easy going, very friendly. Players loved playing under him because of his great nature and although he was a deeply religious man he never imposed anything on anyone and had this easy going leadership style that the side really flourished under.

Another great line from Hassett:

Lindsay Hassett remained a leader well loved for his informality and insouciance. On one occasion after a rain break in a county match, pressmen watched Hassett probing the pitch dubiously with his thumb.
'Any chance of play?' A reporter wondered. 'I dunno,' Hassett replied sardonically.' I only do that to look intelligent in front of the crowd.'

Loved it when Slater was blazing. Own a number of books describing in detail the fantastic cricketer and character that is Hassett. Admired Nel for having the attitude and aggression of a firebrand pace bowler despite only bowling in the mid 130's.

Selected Ponting. Hard for any Australian fan not too.

 That is awesome. Glad I went for Hassett after reading that.

You've obviously not read many of Ben's posts.

Do agree about Hassett offering good value to the game though. I hadn't read too much about Hassett before voting for him, but everything I had read, or heard about him was good. Was clearly a fine player, and a well respected and highly regarded character. The 2 things Pasag has posted have been fantastic.

Confusing him with Neil Harvey?

Hassett.

Legend of Victorian cricket, and I've gotten to go to a few Lindsay Hassett Club Luncheons, ripping days.
