Battle of Cricketers - CW's Favorite Cricketer

Cricketer Of The Year
Not much choice for me in this round - Hassett on the basis that I can't bring myself to vote for the other three.

Ben talking nonsense.

Let's see:

"Needing wickets in the Durban Test a fortnight later, Hassett darted from mid on and ran out Springbok Jack Nel. Given out, Nel had walked ten yards from the pavillion, when bowler Johnson noticed his captain's serious expression.

'I obstructed him, didn't I?' Hassett said.
'I don't know, Lindsay,' Johnson replied. ' I was watching the ball.'
'I think I did,' Hassett commented. 'I'll call him back' "

Hassett was the biggest dick out of the 4 of them.
Genuinely curious as to why you'd say that mate.

As far as I'm aware, Hassett is almost universally regarded as one of the great gentlemen and characters of the game.

He had a wonderful sense of humour and, as Gelman noted, had a great sense of sportsmanship.

He dropped two catches in the outfield on the 48 tour and asked a bobby to borrow his helmet to catch the next one; he allowed Johnson(?) to go through England getting out once only, so he would average 100 plus on the tour when Hassett captained to England, and after he retired, he was a much loved commentator as well.

He got a first baller at Lord's one time too, and walked back intot the shed and picked up the same hand of cards.

Just wondering why you'd say that about him.

Always got the impression that he was a bit've dick after he questioned coloured clothing in limited overs cricket when it was pretty obvious. His body language gave me that impression aswell.
