First loss of the season for the Bulls at Eden Park this afternoon - bit annoyed I didn't tip the Blues because I was contemplating it during the week and only decided on backing the Bulls at the last minute. 0/3 for several of us so far this week so its looking like a low scoring round.

You could tell that the video ref was confused/didnt think it was a try but had to answer the question as asked

By the way, why are Queensland playing Bloemfontein, then Durban, then Joburg? Thought staying at altitude would be the way to go?

I'm not too sure of the exact rationale, but there seems to be some sort of commitment to making the video refereeing overcomplex in rugby union. The Crusaders try was hardly conclusive but the questioning of Kaplan (who IMO had an average game for the "best referee in the world") was such that the video ref felt compelled to answer only that question and not the obvious one - did he think it was a try or not. Similar incident in the Waratahs match with a try given to the Cheetahs which was deserved but the wording of the video referee was essentially ambiguous.

Ironically the Crusaders' second try shouldn't have been awarded either - Ellis' quick throw which led to it should not have been allowed but both Kaplan the assistant referee were oblivious to that.
