Enjoyed that last ball as well. The six was mostly just a great bit of batting. Love seeing a good player go on the charge against a top bowler, nothing better.Pretty crumby over apart from the 1st ball though
I can understand when it's a specific tactic- a batsman who doesn't start well against spin, for instance. Yusuf Pathan opened the bowling against KKR last year and bowled back-of-a-length to Gayle and McCullum- two players who love to play spin on the front foot were tied down brilliantly for crucial powerplay overs.Call me an embittered old would-be seamer, but it always pains me to see a twirler open the bowling in any format.
14 runs hardly justifies the call either.
Think it was a fair idea to open with a spinner. Still wrong choice of bowler though. Kartik would have been a better choice.Call me an embittered old would-be seamer, but it always pains me to see a twirler open the bowling in any format.

Sorry I don't rate him that highly as well as the hyper rated gony as well, who for me Is the worst supposedly fast bowler to don the Indian colors in more than a decade. What do the disinterested members of CW think of Jaskaran Singh's bowling? I think he is one of the more promising Indian bowlers in the IPL, probably just behind Umesh Yadav and Gony. Got a good action, up to 135kph and swings the ball pretty late. Yet to play FC cricket (oh, the horror), but yeah, looks pretty good.
Gony is perhaps not yet international class, but his last FC season shows that he is improving. With his natural attributes of bounce, a solid action and good accuracy, he stands out from most of the Indian fast bowlers.Sorry I don't rate him that highly as well as the hyper rated gony as well, who for me Is the worst supposedly fast bowler to don the Indian colors in more than a decade.
He was good but Ojha was bowling tripe. I have not seen someone bowl so poorly in a while. Oh and I am happy that KKR won.Ganguly you legend. Whooo.
Well it did look big and probably would have been a 6 if not for the wind.Haha, is Gavaskar blind? Rubbish commentary that
It would have paid off if Gilchrist took strike. I'm surprised it took him 2 ducks before he let Gibbs face the first over.Think it was a fair idea to open with a spinner. Still wrong choice of bowler though. Kartik would have been a better choice.
I've seen little of Jaskaran, with so little time these days for the IPL (and I'm no fan of Deccan anyway), but let's just see how well he does in a team where the batting isn't quite as strong. Let's see how well he'll do in the forefront, without help from the batsmen or a prominent strike bowler in his side. When the team isn't doing too well, they can steer clear of him. Umesh Yadav, a bit of a scattershot at first, seems to be finding his feet in the IPL, and should definitely figure in an IPL starting lineup for the next few seasons, and open the bowling for India A regularly. As for Gony, I thought he'd make a good T20 specialist, but now he's got owned in this form of the game too. What do the disinterested members of CW think of Jaskaran Singh's bowling? Not 100%, but the Kolkata Observer seems to think Ross Taylor's likely to play tonightKiwi's there yet?
Gony strikes me as someone more suited to the longer forms of the game as it allows him to probe at a line and length without anything too spectacular required like extreme pace or several variations. I'm not sure Umesh Yadav should have a place in India A, atm, he has to surely be performing better in the Plate League before earning such a spot.I've seen little of Jaskaran, with so little time these days for the IPL (and I'm no fan of Deccan anyway), but let's just see how well he does in a team where the batting isn't quite as strong.
