Tait must be the bargain of the IPL - salary of about 300 k compared to 950 for Roach and Ishant

Close to being the best T20 bowler in the world IMO

Ishant and Roach are hyperoverrated. Bowl a good spell in Australia and bag a 900k contract

That Tait being best T20 bowler in the world is a joke.

Has had 1 good game and that should change the fact that he was **** before that?

It's almost like saying Ponting was a success in India after the Bangalore ton.
I don't deny he was "****", nor do I say he's been a "success". All I'm trying to get through is that you're too quick to judge players in the IPL.

If you want to know how Tait will go for the rest of the IPL, we can tell you. Some games he'll blow sides away, others he'll be all over the shop. That's the player he is, if you or the Indian media don't understand that, that's your issue.

...and as a side point, success or failure in the IPL doesn't have a huge say on how good players are. Sometimes I feel that with some people, Warne and Hayden only became greats when they started doing well in the IPL. A player can do very well in T20Is, strong domestic comps but if he fails in the IPL he's all of a sudden overrated as if it's the true test of ability, but this is a side rant.

Tait

vs MI - 4-0-46-1
vs DD 4-0-26-0 (chasing a modest target)
vs BRC -Dropped
vs KKR - 4-0-29-0
vs KXIP - 3.1-0-22-3 (2 wickets tailenders going for slog)
vs DC - 4-0-22-3

So the only great outing he had was yesterday.
So he's had 1 bad match?

And the dudes they bowl to get their own IPL contracts bought out.

Heh.
 Heck bat well down under and bag a 900k contract like Duminy did. Seems like Australia is the place to prove in to get an IPL biggie.

Why bring "Indian media" into this??

Anyway I don't want to argue on this anymore. I will acknowledge I was wrong should Tait improve as the IPL goes on.

Has had 1 good match, and another in which he took tailender wickets.

Lasith Malinga and Umar Gul are so much better. Come on now.
Charl Langeveldt, Bond..

From an Indian point of view, let's just hope Kings XI Punjab turn around their miserable form and win enough to make the semis or at least fifth. They're too good a team to be at the bottom, with the best Indian base by a long way and good overseas players (maybe not Bopara) to add. If they have a good IPL, the Indian team may have more (or better) players to pick, but their struggles in this IPL may be reason why just two players have made the Indian team this time.

It's not easy, though. To begin, while their bowling has been thrashed like most others, their batting, on the other hand, doesn't look like it can thrash a club second XI unit. They've tried to make a star out of T20 misfit Ravi Bopara, despite having the more promising Adrian Barath at hand. They should also take a risk with their batting and have Yuvraj and Irfan, their form players, in the top four. It's difficult to find fault with the bowling, as this is the best a team can get, with locals and internationals (they're in better shape than Chennai and Deccan, for instance), it still needs a fix. They're going in with SJ Srivastava too often, when Luv Ablish, a T20-ready bowler, is on the bench. Sreesanth may hang on, because he performs better for Kings XI than for any other team. Irfan's struggles with the ball in this edition of the IPL, though, are a major concern. Then there's Brett Lee. Will he, won't he?

Going back to the build-up to the IPL, I wondered, what was Mohit Burman thinking? Fair, the Kings XI didn't make the semis, but Yuvraj, as captain, led the way with the bat, and Sanga wasn't too far behind. Now, both are struggling to get runs, and they're at the bottom of the table. Sanga seems under way too much pressure, while Yuvraj doesn't seem too responsible. Let's just hope things revert after the IPL for the next season, though teams will look different for the next edition.
