Battle of Cricketers - CW's Favorite Cricketer

Cricketer Of The Year
Strange, since most of his off-field deeds weren't in Australia
They may have taken place outside Australia but would, for obvious reasons, have been publicised more there than in England. They get virtually zero publicity in England so far as I'm aware.

Because if it counts as one minus vote in a battle of four, it means in effect that you have three plus votes.
This is bollocks. A plus vote is 3 negative votes for the other guys with this logic.

Anyway, looks like Paddles is through, so a vote for Richards to get him in the wildcard draw.

Ervine, to be different. Johnson probably my least favourite of the current Australian team.

Two Hampshire players in this one, would normally go with Barry Richards but as I will always love Sean Ervine for his two hundreds in the semi-final and final of the C&G.

Love Mitch as well to be fair.

Hadlee to deservedly take this one out, so voting for Johnson. Just love the way he bats.

Johnson, because I'm biased. :p

Not that I have anything against Hadlee. He was NZ's best ever quick and has conducted himself in an exemplary manner off the field, too.

Ervine was a talented cricketer, though I'm unsure what he's doing these days.

As for Richards, he was a fine batsmen, but I'm ambivalent towards him generally. According to Steve Waugh, he could get a bit grumpy when coaching (he ran a coaching clinic in Australia for talented cricketers - Waugh included - in the late 70's).

Ha, lol.

Readers might like to insert their own "pot calling kettle black" joke here.

Love SRW but made a career out of being gimlet eyed, nuggety and the cricketer least likely to perform Karaoke.

I wrote a long paragraph of why I hated Waugh but it got deleted. I will try and re-write -

It was difficult for me to spell out the exact reasons why I hate Waugh but when I thought about it today, it came easy to me.

I believe in sportsmanship and Monica Seles is my favorite sportsperson. Monica Seles was very gracious in defeat and used to carry herself very well. Waugh would do almost any thing to win which irked me a lot. The worst was dismissing a RSA batsman who was out of the crease after the ball was bowled by Australia which lead to Cronje smashing the glass of the dressing room in a stadium in Australia. Waugh played it ugly and it was horribly poor to watch. I used to love Australia under Taylor but with Waugh I found myself despising the team. I tried to play the Waugh way once in back yard cricket sledging my friends. I was frankly embarassed by it. I find myself the polar opposite of Waugh in so many different ways. I despise him to the core.
Ok thanks for explaining though I don't agree.
