*Official* Indian Premier League 2010

Sri Lanka were unlucky because of the bad light IMO. They didn't get a fair chance in the game.

EDIT - Sorry that was the champions Trophy in West Indies.

in 2003 India were blasted and no one to blame as they stupidly chose wrongly in the toss and Australia were just too good.
That was 2007 Pratyush. India made the 2003 final, remember?:p

The nature of the tournaments in cricket means the best will not always win IMO. That Australia have managed to win the World Cup like they have just shows how good they were.

Lets look at World Cup winners in the past -

1975, 79 - Windies best by far and won
1983 - India though West Indies was the best team
1987 - Australia though India and Pakistan were the best teams (AFAIK - not sure)
1992 - Pakistan - not the best team, NZ were the best team in the competition
1996 - RSA and SL so fair enough SL won
1999 - RSA and Aus so fair enough Aus won
2003 - Aus
2007 - Aus but Srl could have caused an upset

I always like the idea of best of 3s and 5s and 7s like in American Sport. We had a good debate about this topic during last year's IPL final. There is the other view point - Jono's school of thought that one match semis, finals etc tests players in clutch situations and gives a big match feel to the whole thing
There must be a typo cause I don't see Englands name anywhere?

Lumb really hasn't done himself justice in the IPL. He really is a better player than he's shown so far in this tournament.
There were some strange signings to the IPL this season, Barath and Lumb being 2 of them.

Would Lumb be in the team if he hadn't played for Hampshire?

Possibly not, but he had an excellent season last season, and was probably the best batsman in the T20 Cup last year. He's certainly a much better player than he's looked so far, I was hugely impressed by his development last year, looked a quality player whenever I saw him.

Love to watch Voges bat. Always strikes me as a very sensible cricketer. With this six and total upto 165 and 2 balls to go RR have some thing to bowl with. Hopefully they win.

But Kallis is opening? Kohli, Dravid and Morgan are okay but all have their own little flaws.
Kohli and Dravid don't score fast enough (not a big rater of Kohli) they can play at a run a ball but they aren't destroyers IMO.

Morgan is untested at the moment. Last year Taylor held together the entire middle order for Bangalore.
Won't they be getting Pietersen after a week or so?

Was suffering with his achilles injury last year. Arguably the best performing International T20 batsman in the world, I'm predicting he'll do well in the IPL this year now that he's actually fully fit and in decent touch.

Warne's captaincy and bowling are both awesome. Ganguly is crap. KKR look like a team who just play to fill up the numbers. Very boring.

Surely McCullum, Yuvi, Gayle and Smith would be the top International T20 batsman. Would say it is between Yuvraj or Gayle myself. Cam White isn't bad either. Hate Warner though.

KKR are gun when they pull it together but Shah is a shocking international player. Was crap for Wellington as well. Ganguly needs to go, how on earth that'll happen I can't say.

How will they pull it all together? Their local batsmen suck.

Edit - Actually I am over reacting. Tiwary and Pujara are fine.

There are two holes though - Ganguly - which will always remain a liability and Saha is not great with the bat either.

The point is they are struggling to chase 160. You need to be able to chase 200 to have a chance in the IPL.
