Would rather have moved Bell up to open than had Trott opening and KP at 3, personally. He's done it before and he should be keen to get stuck into Bangers' medium-pacers.

Trott opening makes more sense for me. Bell's a much better player of spin bowling than Trott, so batting in the middle order is sensible. Trott having the chance to get going against the medium pacers before facing the spinners could allow him to find some form, he still doesn't look comfortable starting against spin. Good selection for mine.

Very similar, particularly with them both being incredibly strong square and extra cover. Tamim is perhaps a tad more reckless though (whether thats a good or bad thing is up to you).

Very interesting days play today with neither side managing to really grab the momentum and force themselves into a commanding position. Tamim Iqbal was exciting first up, he rode his luck, Colly missed a sharp catch at second slip and Cook should have swallowed a chance at mid-on, but he played some lovely strokes. His ultra-attacking style will need to be tinkered with before he arrives on England's shores, but on these Bangladeshi tracks he can afford to just hit the ball powerfully through the line as there is absolutely zero in it for the quicker bowlers.
There has been turn but not big spin, but it is only day one. Think England will be pleased with the 8 wickets picked up today on this pitch, providing they can finish Bangladesh off swiftly in the morning and not allow them to crawl their way to in excess of 350.
It was a competitive day for Bangladesh and that will please them. Nice cameos from Tamim, Shakin, Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur, but you wouldn't think any match-winning innings from them. Hoping England take advantage of these batting conditions and should really only have to bat the once.

Yeah same here, have half been supporting Bangladesh the whole series, really want them to do well. Not sure who I would want to win if it got really close though.For the sake of an interesting match, I hope they get England out for under 400. But then I know I'm not as ultra-patriotic as some.

My gut instinct to root for the underdog over-rules customary patriotic support for England I think. It's not that I don't want us to win, but I wouldn't be completely devastated if we didn't. It would be embarrassing for sure, and there'd be a few cries of "why wasn't Strauss there" but the win would mean so much more to them.
