*Official* Indian Premier League 2010

Athlai

Not Terrible
Barath has been an opener his entire career. He dominated the champions league T20 at the top of the innings for T & T. What the hell was the logic in batting him at number 6 when the required run rate was at 12?

Ah well, Kings XI have never struck me as a particularly efficient outfit anyway, they always have made some strange decisions.
The same logic that doesn't bowl Pathan out but lets Sreesanth finish his four.

Agree 100%. They seem to have a very flawed management/captaincy system. It's a shame as they have some superb talent at their disposal in Bopara, Barath, Yuvi, Mahela, Sanga etc.

Awesome CSK. Tried to stay awake for the game but slept after a few balls. Have to catch the highlights. Matt and Raina rule.

Owais Shah tbh.

Hang on, this is weird. Ravi's actually looking in genuinely good form =/
He's a player who I reckon has a future for England in LO cricket - he's been dicked around somewhat by the England management.

I said about 12-18 months ago that Bopara, Trott, Davies and KP was the long term top 4 to work around in both ODIs and T20Is, nothing's really changed bar Kieswetter emerging as a possible talent.

Both Bopara and Trott have been dicked around though.

Totally agree. Ravi's a player I rate very highly, and although he didn't do particularly well, there is no way he should have been ditched in favour of Joe Denly. I think he just needs to score a few runs in ODi cricket, and that'll get him playing his natural game for England. I've seen Bopara play more than a few times, and he plays far more fluently and naturally for Essex. He looked a shade of the player that made the double century against Leicester or in his performance in this match. Would love to see him back in England colours, though I am a huge Ravi fanboy :p

After one week of IPL this is what I feel about the teams

MI - Easily one of the best teams around. Jayasuriya seems to be the weak link. He should be replaced by Duminy. Tare, Rayudu and Tiwary are impressive. Malinga is awesomeness personified. Should make it to the semis.

RCB - A very well balanced team. Kallis, Pandey and Uthappa make a strong top order. Their middle order hasn't been tested yet though. Bowling is a bit weak. Should comfortably make the semis.

CSK - A good batting line up but still too dependent on Dhoni, Hayden and Raina. Badri should step up. Spin bowling is good but no pacers to talk about. Kemp and Morkel also need to turn it on. Don't know if they have it in them to win the IPL, too much pressure on their batsmen. Should make the semis though.

DC - A good side. With Gilchrist and Symonds firing they look good. Need Sharma to step up. Their bowling is their weaker side. Need Roach to come and fire. Ojha is very good though. Think will make the semis and with game changers like Gilchrist in the team could end up winning the whole thing.

KKR - Will surely do better than last time. Angelo Mathews looks the deal and their bowling is pretty good with Karthik being awesome. Need to improve their death bowling. Batting is going to be the issue here. Gayle and McCullum will be exciting to watch but a lot depends on their reliability. Hodge will need to be the rock for the team, Ganguly is wasting a place and Tiwary must step up. Will struggle to reach the semis but might just pip CSK or DC.

DD - Their batting line up is so good it looks like cheating, but with AB and Dilshan out of form and Gambhir out they are struggling. Their bowling too is not looking good with too much dependence on Nannes. They can turn it all around if AB and Dilshan come good and Nehra returns but should see to that they don't end up losing too many games before the tide turns. They will be near the semis group and have it in them to make it through.

RR and KXIP - I am sorry. Try next year.

That's the thing I like about Mumbai so much (besides an in-form Tendulkar). They don't just have their fortunes dictated by how the internationals go, they actually have some exciting, young Indian talent. Same with RCB and Virat Kohli, I like that guy.

Putting aside ads during the middle of the overs (Which I have acknowledged is poor), the ads you are complaing about (insurance one etc.) are Indian ads. Not IPL ads. If you watch other Indian TV channels you will get the same. If you watch test match cricket you will get the same.

So It's not an IPL issue. That's all my point is.
Yeah, but I don't care if they rape Indian TV, I just get sad when they rape cricket :(.

Delhi is weak compared to Mumbai and Bangalore because of lack of no of quality batsmen. An in form Sehwag means that they are still among the top 3 sides in the tourney.

I am shocked we don't have a regulation system like the one you mentioned in the UK or is not stringent enough. Even the local cinema awards and television serials are cramped with ads so much it is impossible to watch them without recording and forwarding through ads.

Delhi have the best Twenty20 batting lineup by a mile in the IPL. Sewag, Warner, TilDil, Gambhir, AB. Not sure what you mean, certainly miles ahead of (Taylor and White-less) Bangalore. Only thing that rivals them are Chennai with all their players in.

Will Warner play enough? I can see them being a bit inconsistent. Not a lot but one failure in ten innings. Do they have enough depth deep down though. I forgot about AB, I must admit.

They will win today I agree but against the stronger teams they will fall short like they did v Bangalore.
