Chris Hartley wins top Sheffield Shield award | Australia Cricket News | Cricinfo.com

Thoughts anyone?

Christ Hartley as Sheffield Shield player of the season initially suprised me. On thinking it over, good choice. Has been incredibly consistent with the bat all year, done the job with the gloves and has almost single handidly carried the Queensland batting lineup to the Sheffield Shield final. A number of other cricketers have had great seasons, anyone out of Hartley, Klinger, Cowan, Smith, Khawaja, Hughes, Ronchi, Cutting, Hastings, George or Wright could have won and no complaints could be raised.

Brad Hodge as Ford Ranger Cup player of the season I have few complaints with. Dominant force with the bat this season, nobody out of Klinger, Bailey, Doherty or Hastings could claim to have a better season.

David Warner and Keiron Pollard good choices for Twenty20 Big Bash. Maybe James Hopes a touch unlucky, had a brilliant tournament.

The ACA Sheffield Shield team of the year contains the obvious choices.

Ford Ranger Cup. I have issue with Jaques. The guy was in horrible form all season, was probably on the edge of being dropped and then scored that massive 172. One good innings does not make a season. Love that Wade made the side, just shows how great a season it has been for the keepers in Australian domestic cricket.

Big Bash. What is Simpson doing at number 7? Contributed little with the ball, and all his best efforts with the bat came whilst opening the innings. Would prefer Naved-ul-Hasan over Tait simply for his awesome hattrick.

A chance of catching only some of the Sheffield Shield final on the weekend.

Loved it at the Junction Oval last season, I work down St Kilda Road at this time of the year; was fantastic to finish the working day and catch the last hour of play.

I think Lambert is retiring from state cricket at the end of the season. I play at the same grade club as him and they are having a massive dinner Testamonial for him on the 27th of March. Never meet him though, so I'm not quite sure.

Might head down on Thursday. Still, got myself behind in uni work only two and a half weeks in. :(

Was awesome, could get there in a couple of minutes and only inches away from the players. Pity about the pitch though.

I thought that Swan/Walter probably should have been in the Shield XI. QLD have had a really good season and only Hartley and Cutting made the team!

Very much disagree with this. He had an ok tournament, but pretty much gave QLD no chance of beating Victoria in the semi when he batted for 20 overs and still didn't even make it to 50 (with a strike-rate of around 70)
