I simply found the absence of subcontinental moderators on a sizeable moderator panel to be surprising and hence I questioned the same. Is it forbidden to ask "certain" questions here?

Plus the most important reason to pick a mod is surely their ability to moderate and not their nationality?

I might be the dirtiest cynic going round but surely those words can be construed as subcontinentals lacking ability to moderate?

Is it my faulty recollection or wasn't something mentioned a while ago about members from the subcontinent not applying to be mods?

Can't say I blame 'em - seems like for the most part its a "damned if you do damned if you don't" sort of job

Fair enough if there aren't enough applicants. That answers my question more or less perfectly.

No one is saying they are inferior. Did GI Joe apply to be a mod? I applied and my behaviour was impeccable but I was not selected. So do I become inferior to Clapo? It is silly to think in these terms. It is a selection issue and some one will be selected over some one else . It is a mere co-incidence that there are no mods from the subcontinent. The Indian posters on CW are among the best nationalities represented and we have thers most constructive of discussions. You don't find people looking down on members from the subcontinent or any thing. You are given your due respect in this forum and you know it.

I really don't care. My job is to apply. If they think I am good enough they will take me. Else hold no grudges and apply again when the opportunity comes. It is always healthy to participate in forum activities and a sign of a healthy forum.

Clapo has proven to be an excellent mod and it was a very good decision.

Sorry sir but I don't know where you even belong to so as to construe racism behind your posts. Please don't assume things that aren't there. I don't know you are white or black or brown. You said it's the moderating ability which is considered ahead of nationalities. And there are zero moderators from the subcontinent. Add these two up and any kid would say somehow the subcontinental members are not enough qualified to become moderators.

Now this could be simply because a big chunk of subcontinental members aren't that well versed in the English language and hence they never can grasp the intricacies of the English language, the slight nuances, and the colloquial usages. That is a perfectly acceptable explanation as to what constitutes "inferiority" which is not demeaning by any measure.

What is your logic for such a proposal? Subcontinent needs are taken care of by Manan. Time Zone differences are not that huge. The forum always has a few moderators modding and that is all we want when we mean time zone hinderance.

Not understanding the qualification. Indian guys on here raised elsewhere have been brought up in households by Indian parents and would understand a helluva lot of the sensitivities of Indian culture and whatnot.

What's the deal here, do you think you're being moderated differently than other posters because of some sort of "lost in translation" misunderstandings and where are the examples of this?
