All previously closed threads should be re-opened in light of the new moderating techniques, especially those that were closed for no reason by Mr Mixedtwit.
For instance the one in my signature.

 I'm trying to add some serious points in this thread

I just wish your friends were as mature as you.

Alan Garner: Gambling? Who said anything about gambling? It's not gambling when you know you're gonna win. Counting cards is a foolproof system.
Stu Price: It's also illegal.
Alan Garner: It's not illegal. It's frowned upon, like masturbating on an airplane.
Phil Wenneck: I'm pretty sure that's illegal too.
Alan Garner: Yeah, maybe after 9/11, where everybody got so sensitive. Thanks a lot, bin Laden.

Completely disagree. Doing it in the thread ensures that all members know where the line is. The flow of the thread wouldn't shift if posters (note to Sir Alex this isn't about you) didn't act like little children when they received warnings.
But if the posters are given to acting like little children, that's a near-inevitable consequence.

IMO the best solution would be a combination of both. A "right, that's enough" in the thread, then a "this is an official warning" in public message (let's remember, it's not 100% private, though obviously the poster has the option of deleting the message if they want to).

'Right that's enough' suggests the general tone of the thread is wrong and doesn't provide any pointers as to what specific rule has been broken or whatever.

FYI, counting cards is not illegal. They can't stop you from using your brain (though using a device to help you is every much illegal, and a felony). They will simply ask you to leave (and it's not a request), and ban you from casino's thereafter.

IMO The atmosphere in CC has become worse since this thread was opened. I have very strong feelings about some of the things but I would rather keep it to myself. I have composed couple of posts on it, before posting, went and drank cool aid, came back and decided against posting them.
don't hold it in sanz. u need to let it out. u'll feel a lot better afterwards-trust me on this ok.

imo we need an un-moderated sub forum where anything goes. where people people can bag each other, call murali a chucker or warne a drug cheat etc etc i think people will feel a lot better when they let all that frustration out and they will actually talk cricket in the cricket forum...:)

Haha, obviously it would never happen but I'll tell you what, I've heard serious ideas that were worse.

a Guns forum I used to post at had a board called 'Appetite for Destruction' for that sort of thing, though it was more in jest, and plus, it was a rock and roll forum, slightly different standards

Yeah, most of Bay 13 is an absolute shamozzle, but it was worth it for the "let's look inside AFL players' computers" thread.
