*Official* Indian Premier League 2010

Disappointing end to a very good innings, think he was just surprised by the full toss and ended up just flicking it to deep mid-wicket instead of really hammering it. Shame, but a good performance from Rav all the same. Still backing him to get back in the England side in the next couple of years. /Ravi fanboy.

Bopara always picks out fielders off nothing deliveries like that though. He's a long way off getting back into England's side.

I'm not even going to get into discussing Bopara's chances of getting back in the England side. I think we both know he's not done enough to get back in, just that I'd like to see him back in England colours, as I'm a big fan of the bloke. I enjoy watching him bat, he plays for Essex (my nearest County) and he was a guest at my cricket club's annual Presentation evening a couple of years back, so my opinion of Bopara will always be steeped in bias.

Yousufs in deadly form but yall shouldnt get too excited about this dude playing for Indian national team. He smacked around club players in this game. His game winning domestic innings was also against 110-120 kmph bowlers last month. I think he kind of struggles against really good pacemen on the international circuit.

In anycase, Ive always felt he should be in the Indian limited overs squad, just no reason to get too excited about him.
Agreed. Comparable to Afridi with the bat at best.

In the one day game I guess Kieswetter will be opening, so with Morgans' success at 5, can't see too many spare batting places.

Shame, cause I thought Bopara was a talented player. Maybe just another case of a good county player who couldn't step up to international level.

Abdulla not fit enough to grace the domestic scene yet doesn't mind getting up for the IPL. Fat $$$$.

There's also the matter of a captain who loves him and another who wishes to dispense with him sooner than later. I wouldn't be surprised if he did well for an English county or South African franchise or an Aussie T20 team.
That frankly is rubbish. If anything Dhoni has only given more chances than he really deserved at that particular point in time.

Fatter than Powar?
Abdulla currently sports a fatter ass than Powar despite not appearing nearly as roly poly. I can't keep my eyes off him when he turns around after walking upto his mark. Its like a different train compartment following the engine.

Poor first day for Shaun Tait show | Cricket News | Indian Premier League 2010 | Cricinfo.com

I think Tait is quite overrated. He has surely a mental problem once batsmen start dominating him. Something Zaheer used to have when he was Tait's age.
Maybe overrated in your mind where you set up weird expectations about him.

Everyone else knows he's a package of unplayable brilliance and rubbish fragility. See his 2007 WC and his murdering the Saffies vs his Tests against India, Ashes, last night etc. He is what he is.

Cricinfo ran a seperate article concentrating on his failure in a T20 game! I feel I am not the (only) one who feels he is "overrated" then. He is still value in LoIs but he has a long way to go before playing test matches.

Tait is the worlds fastest bowler and fans pay to see that alone, he brings in the crowds and good or bad there will be entertainment.

I also dont see how he is overrated considering he is not part of the Aus ODI or test team. He does OK in the Aus T20 team but maybe Warne just dosent have a clue how to use him like Ponting does.

Tait will never come close to Test matches. Fully expect him to retire from first class within the next year (not that he plays). Given the style of bowler he is and his fitness/injury problems, it makes sense for him to remain a specialist short-form bowler.

The IPL will test him. As I pointed out 18 hours ago he has a precedent of turning up for an overseas team and bowling poorly (Durham). Won't get any favours from the pitches either, the Mumbai batsman where almost playing every delivery off the front-foot. Hope he bounces back; he was woeful early in the Big Bash Twenty20 in January and ended the tournament in fine form, culminating in his scintillating spells in the International games.

Must admit, any bowler that can cause some pain to Harby remains OK in my book.
