Finn looking very nervous on debut. Some pretty poor deliveries, but can't be too harsh on a 20 year old first up.
Has a great chance to finish the game with 5-6 wickets and ease his way into Test cricket.
Iqbal running rampant. Such a typical Bangladesh innings, one batsman scores quickly, scores possibly 100 whilst everyone else does bugger all and they end up bowled out for 200-250.

They say he was pick of the bowlers in the warm up game. A bit wayward in his first few overs, probably a bit nervous.
He's got great potential, hope he doesn't turn into Tim Tremlett mark 2.

Tamim unlike most Bangladeshi's takes very few risks when he runs rampant. Very Jayasuriya -like imo.

He bowled a terrible line but I suppose we can put that down to nervousness. At his height I was expecting him to come in and really hit the pitch hard but he seems to prefer to bowl a Hoggard length and most of his deliveries went through to the keeper at a pretty low height. Definitely wasn't the sort of bowler I'd assumed he was.

Anyway, The trouble with taking him off so quickly was that it smacked of captaincy by numbers instead of actually thinking about things. Nerves + rawness always meant there was a chance he'd be picked off for a few boundaries, especially with Tamin at the crease. However. his best chance should be with the new ball, and he does have the potential to give us something that the attack's lacking nowadays. Letting him stew on those three overs in the outfield and then come back to try again with an old ball won't achieve a lot. Especially when the replacement was Bresnan, who has no future whatsoever as a test cricketer afaics. Better by far to have given him 2 or 3 men on the leg-side boundary plus a third man to keep his economy rate respectable and wait for his bounce off a length to do the rest.

Agree with what you say about the captaincy, I'm not watching, obv, but a degree of sensitivity wouldn't have gone amiss. No disrespect to the Banglas, but we aren't playing Oz at the SCG.
In fairness to Cook tho he's a debutant as skip too, I suppose.

Yes, and he'd say there's a game to be won before we start worrying about the longer-term picture. Hopefully they'll have a think about it overnight - at the moment, we've missed a trick there, imo.
Still, there's another for Swann as I type. Sounds an absolutely shocking shot.

Such a tame performance from Bangladesh.
They do have young and talented batsman, but you do wonder if they are going anywhere? Mid 30's averages for your best batsman is nothing short of a disgrace. As good as Shakib Al Hasan can be, that shot looked worse than a Tasmanian 2nd XI tailender taking a swing towards the end of the innings.
