Norwood's on Fire
Cracking innings from sledger but a heavy defeat there. We were always going to miss Scott and Read though (and maybe me )

Cricketweb XI vs England
@ CWBCC Stadium (1st ODI)

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

It was Cricketweb XI's first One Day International on home soil in over a year as the improving England side were looking to start the series on the right note. With both teams making plenty of changes to their test squad the match proved to be a bit of a mystery with boths sides opting for batting depth and a number of part time bowlers, Cricketweb XI skipper Neil Pickup won the toss and elected to bat on a lovely day and the huge crowd were expecting plenty of runs to be scored.

James Stedman strode to the crease with the unfamilair Nick Scott with him, Stedman's CW Black team mate Ash Chaulk was left out of the playing eleven today as selectors kept faith with the pair that got the job done in New Zealand in January. The pair got the home team off to a terrific start as Scott in particular made the most of his home ground knowledge, playing his first international on his home patch Scott belted 14 boundaries on his way to an effortless 94 and was shattered to have missed out on his ton. Stedman's blessed run at the top of the order also continued as his 72 runs from 84 balls contributed heavily in the 176 run opening stand with Scott, both fell to a rejuvinated Ryan Sidebottom who looks in better form since the test series, with the job not done in form Red's batsman Rob Dauth came in at three, a position he has been devastating in during the Development League this season and again he looked the goods, his performance in batting through the rest of the innings was a measure of his new found maturity and ability to perform at this level, he finished with 75 from 67 balls unbeaten. New wicketkeeper Ben Read also continued his dazling form this season when he came in at the fall of Chirs Butler's wicket, Read smashed three sixes in his 41 not out and looked right at home in the international arena. Cricketweb XI finished with the impressive total of 329/3 with Ryan Sidebottom the only multiple wicket taker.

It proved to be a difficult chase for the visitors but they could take heart from the knowledge they gained chasing a good total on this very pitch just two days earlier against CW Green, openers Steve Davies and Craig Kieswetter went for a solid approach and attempted to build the innings while trying to keep the wickets in tact for later on, Cricketweb XI on the other hand had shut up shop as far as trying to take wickets went and were solely attempting to stop as many boundaries as they could, there was some good middle overs bowling by Kingsley Clapham and Liam Camps at times but the first wicket didn't fall until the score was at 236, Davies narrowling missing a maiden international ton when he holed out to Nick Scott off Neil Pickup for 93. Amazingly no more wickets were to fall in the innings as Kieswetter flew past a ton and later a brilliant 150 but the villian in the end of England was Johnathan Trott as he failed to capitalise on a good start and struggled to score above a run a ball, the final total proved to be 302/1 which on most days would be considered excellent, but it just wasnt enough for a team lacking any real options.

Cricketweb XI 329/3 (50)
NG Scott 94(86), RJ Dauth 75*(67), JE Stedman 72(84), RJ Sidebottom 2/71

England 302/1 (50)
C Kieswetter 151*(142), SM Davies 93 (111), IJL Trott 43*(47), NS Pickup 1/55

Cricketweb XI won by 27 runs
Man of the Match: C Kieswetter (ENG)

Just realised my monumental **** up in the lineup. Luke Wright as a specialist bowler? What the ****. Brainfart if there ever was one. Scared to look at the scorecard now.

Thought it was odd.
Assuming you have Mod powers in this section? If so, check my edit. In my first lineupe I had him at both 7 and 10, 10 was always meant to be Broad but I then later changed my mind about having him at 7 and wanted the second spin option of Fatel.
Never realised he was at 10, ever, until seconds before I made that post.

Haha, stoked to be picked, stoked with the result. Bowling was par for the course though. Well bowled Claps and Pickmeup.

Awesome batting display, disappointed with the bowling though despite winning. 2 dropped catches as well :(

Cloete

International Captain
Cricketweb XI Squad for ODI Series against England

Selectors have today dropped a bombshell by leaving Andrew Cloete out of the squad for the one day series against England, chairman of selectors Simon Fitzsimmons today took full responsibility for the move, he noted that the irresistable form of Green wicketkeeper batsman Ben Read was behind the move and put it quite simply "Cloete was unlucky to miss out, he'll be back no doubt, but on this occassion we went through the merits of each of the players and he came out bottom today."

The Squad is
Neil Pickup (CW Black) (Captain)
Ash Chaulk (CW Black) (Wicketkeeper)
Ben Read (CW Green) (Wicketkeeper)
Nick Scott (CW Green)
James Stedman (CW Black)
Rob Dauth (CW Red)
Sean Fuller (CW Blue)
Chris Butler (CW Colts)
Martyn Corrin (CW Green)
Liam Camps (CW Blue)
Kingsley Clapham (CW Red)
Nath Patrick (CW Black)
Matt Smith (CW Black)
Devo. Still, can't argue given the performance in the ODI.

Very happy with my test series and pleased to bring up the 100 games. Quality series all round from CW, owned them. Even Smith hit some ****ing runs.

Norwood's on Fire
Haha, awesome stuff. I was awful with the ball and never got a bat - I'm used to waiting while Scott & Read slay the bowlers, just there were a couple of other people doing the same this time round as well :D

Well done everyone!

Not sure if this the Australian Rugby League or CW Cricket. Side picked purely on domestic performances. Though can't argue with the results.
